After a summer break, Holly Willoughby is back co-hosting This Morning and joked that she needed a drink for the stress she felt returning to work.
On Monday’s (September 1) This Morning, Holly revealed that she’d been battling her nerves all day after returning to work following a six-week break.
The 38-year-old also said the day was stressful as she took her four-year-old son Chester to his first day at primary school.
‘I didn’t sleep,’ Holly admitted on the show. ‘It was Chester’s first day of school, our first day of term.
‘I have had an eventful morning taking Chester to school. I felt more emotional than I thought, he was a bit nervous but he is only there until midday, so I will find out how he got on when we are here.’
Joking that she needed an alcoholic drink to get her through the morning, Holly added: ‘Is it too early for an Aperol spritz? It’s practically orange juice.’

Earlier in the day, Holly shared two sweet photos and heartfelt messages about her son’s first day at school, revealing that she was overcome with emotion to her 5.7m Instagram followers.
In the first snap, three pairs of school shoes are lined up alongside the caption: ‘Back to school…who else’s front door looks like this…Big day for Chester tomorrow, 1st day of school…Good-luck to anyone else starting their school journey…can’t believe he’s at this stage already.’
In the second, Holly is seen holding hands with her son while they head down the pavement to school.
The star wrote: ‘And he’s off…full of a whole host of emotions watching him walk through the classroom door…my baby is growing up…thank you @thismorning for moving heaven and earth so I could drop him off…that’s a day we will both never forget.’
The photos have amassed hundreds of thousands of likes in mere hours, with many fans sending heartwarming messages to Holly and her son.
‘Hope he’s had an amazing day,’ commented one fan, while another wrote: ‘Big hugs. It’s certainly an emotional day.’
A third praised This Morning for giving Holly the morning to see her son off to school, writing: ‘Well done @thismorning! First days at school are so important.’
