The Gentlemen’s Kaya Scodelario spent night on the street at 4 & was troubled teen before making £1.2m as Hollywood star

SHE’S the star of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen and has a Hollywood hit list which includes Maze Runner and Pirates Of The Caribbean 5.But Kaya Scodelario – who first found fame in Skins at 14 – was forced to sleep on the streets when she was just four and has fought her way up from a poverty-stricken childhood to become a screen star, commanding up to £1.2million a movie.Kaya with co-star Theo James in the Netflix hitCredit: RexKaya says her mum struggled but was ‘my inspiration’She starred with Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean 5Credit: ©Walt Disney Studios / Supplied by LMKThe 31-year-old has also overcome a sexual assault at 12, troubled teen years which saw her leave home at 16 and, most recently, a split from husband Ben Walker, the father of her two children, after an eight year marriage. But the plucky star – who plays drug queen Susie Glass in the action-packed Netflix series – says acting was a lifelong dream and “the only thing I was ever good at.”She sees success as a way of paying back her mum, Brazilian-born Katia, for the sacrifices she made while raising her daughter alone,“I want to give a life back to her as she gave her whole life up for me,” she has said.READ MORE IN FEATURES“She had to play the role of mother and father at the same time, and she did it to perfection. I managed to find a way through because of her. My mother is my biggest inspiration.”Hard childhoodKatia split from Kaya’s dad, Roger Humphrey, when she was just one and, three years later,  she left East Sussex to move to London, taking her four-year-old daughter with her.Homeless, the pair were forced to sleep on the streets for their first night before being given a council flat in north London, where Katia struggled to make ends meet, working several jobs and battling depression.“Mum built a life for me in a difficult place, at a difficult time,” she said in 2017.Most read in Celebrity“When I was growing up, we didn’t have much money. What was important in my house was to have food on the table, be happy and have our family.”Kaya also struggled with dyslexia and describes herself as “painfully shy child, very insecure, very anxious”Vinnie Jones explains his upcoming role on Netflix drama The GentlemenShe told Hollywood Reporter:  “I was really bullied as a young child, and I changed schools a couple of times. But, I always had this dream that I wanted to act. It was the only thing I was ever brave enough to put my hand up and put myself forward for.“Growing up in England, being very working class and having an immigrant single mother, I didn’t think that people like me could do things like that. “I knew I’d never be able to afford to go to drama school or have any coaching. So, I kind of accepted that it wasn’t going to happen at the very mature age of 14, which is quite depressing.”The star had a tough upbringingCredit: InstagramKaya at the premiere of the The GentlemenCredit: RexKaya runs a drugs empire in the Netflix hitSexual assaultKaya was estranged from dad Roger until 2010, a year before his death, and left home at 16 after relations with her mum became strained, although they are now close.“She raised me alone and she suffered depression most of her life,” she has said. “It can be very dark, very difficult, especially as a teenager. It put a lot of pressure on our relationship.“I wanted to help but I was 16 and probably not saying the right thing.”My best friend’s boyfriend was stabbed in Stoke Newington a couple of months before I got offered the roleKaya ScodelarioAs well as her difficult homelife, Kaya was a victim of a sexual assault, when she was 12 – causing a rift with her Brazilian ‘family members’.In 2018, as the #MeToo movement began to gain momentum, she revealed the “horrific” assault in order to help other abused children to speak out earlier.“It’s taken me 13 years to say #MeToo,” she wrote on Twitter, adding her alleged attacker is “still protected by ‘family members’ in Brazil. They’ve told lies to papers to try to silence me.”She added that others who had spoke out gave her the courage to do the same and told Harper’s Bazaar: “I remember thinking that if I was 12 years old and I had this horrific thing happen to me but I saw a woman I admired speaking up about it, it would have made me feel less guilty. “It would have inspired me to think, ‘This won’t hold me back, this is something that has happened but I am not a victim.’”So I thought if I can do that for one person then I owe it to my 12-year-old self.”Age lieKaya’s life changed overnight when she landed the role of Effy in the gritty teen drama Skins, at the age of 14.She later revealed she almost lost out on the part after a lying about her age backfired – because they thought she was too old. After being told about the open auditions for the show, she dropped by on the way home from school to see who was lining up, but didn’t actually go in.She was approached by producer Bryan Elsley after he spotted her sitting across the road. “For some reason, he came over and asked me if I wanted to audition. I said, “Yes,” but I knew I was too young because I was told you had to be 16 and up,” she said. “So I lied and said that I was 16 and a half, and he let me audition. Then they called back and said that I was too old so I admitted that I lied about my age. “Luckily, they gave me the opportunity. She’s Brazilian and I think that helps. I always knew about sex, about drugs, about religion,” she adds.“I did go through a phase of smoking weed but I told her about it and she convinced me to stop. I never smoked it again.“She’s even made me promise never to do a nude scene. That’s my excuse, producers!”Kaya’s stint in Skins also led to a role in the BBC drama True Love, in 2012, where she played a schoolgirl seduced by a female teacher, played by Billie Piper, with whom she shared a kiss.Famous first loveStarring as lovers in the Skins led to an offscreen romance with Jack O’Connell, who she called her “first love.”“We were so young and at the same time both becoming famous,” she said.“I was completely in love with him. If he’d told me to jump off a bridge, I would have.”Jack – who has since starred in Unbroken and Ferrari – “broke my heart” and she says she “spent a whole week in my room crying” after their split in 2009.She went on to date Shameless star Elliot Tittensor for five years, and supported him when he was arrested after an incident in 2010. The actor drove at an 18-year-old who was following Kaya, knocking him down and causing brain damage and was later fined £750 for driving without insurance. The pair broke up in 2014 but, after the injured man launched  a civil suit for damages, she gave evidence on Elliot’s behalf via video link from Australia – where she was filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Kaya dated Shameless star Elliot for five yearsCredit: GettyKaya and ex-husband Ben met in 2014Credit: GC ImagesThe former couple have two children together, now aged seven and twoCredit: InstagramIt was also in Australia that Kaya met actor Benjamin Walker, her co-star in The King’s Daughter, in 2014. Benjamin, then 31, had just divorced Meryl Streep’s daughter Mamie Gummer and quickly fell for the then 22-year-old BritHe proposed after just six months – when he presented her with a Cartier love bracelet for Christmas then realised he “wanted to buy me an engagement ring” – and they got married at New York City Town Hall in 2015.I was completely in love with him. Sharing clothes, bikini shoots and filming THAT racy film scene – inside Damian Hurley and mum Liz’s close relationship

MOST children would find watching a sex scene with their parents a cringe-worthy experience that leaves them longing to hide behind sofa cushions. But Damian Hurley has gone one better – and directed his world-famous mum Elizabeth engaging in racy lesbian sex scenes for his debut film, Strictly Confidential. Damian Hurley and his mother Liz have an incredibly close relationshipCredit: Instagram/@damianhurley1The 21-year-old has directed her raunchy scenes in the film Strictly ConfidentialCredit: BackGridDamian claims to have a ‘telepathic’ bond with his mumCredit: AlamyThe flick, which is out in cinemas this month, sees the 58-year-old snogging and being pawed at by her 20-something lover, played by Pear Chirava. Far from finding the saucy scenes uncomfortable to direct, 21-year-old Damian told The Times: “I hate to say that it felt totally normal. I don’t know what that says about us.”He revealed there were no intimacy coordinators on set because “everyone was very comfortable” and he was chuffed that his mum took on such a raunchy role.“I don’t think she has ever been cast in a sexier part at this point in her career,” Damian added.READ MORE ON SHOWBIZThe admission surprised many but it’s far from the first time the mother-son duo’s incredibly close relationship has come under the spotlight. Back in 2018, Liz shocked fans when it was revealed that her son took ‘sexy’ pictures of her in a bikini for her Instagram account when he was just 15 years old.She hit back at critics, who felt it was inappropriate, insisting he’s “really good at it” and put her at ease while taking the saucy snaps.“When we’re on holiday together, sure he’ll take some pictures,” Liz said while appearing on Watch What Happens Live After Show. Most read in Celebrity“And you know, he’s got a really good eye and he’s studying photography and it’s ridiculous.”Liz praised her son again this year, telling The Telegraph that being photographed by him made her feel more comfortable. Elizabeth Hurley, 58, strips off for steamy same-sex love scene in new movie – directed by her SONShe said: “Who likes being photographed in bikinis? No one, even when you’re 22 and fabulous… but it’s relaxing knowing someone’s behind the camera who looks out for me.”Damian, who called it “just business”, believes the pair working together in this way is only unusual to those who have not grown up in the public gaze.“I was speaking to a lot of my friends who are also second-generation of parents in the industry,” says Damian, who counts Brooklyn Beckham, Kate Moss’s daughter Lila and Jude Law’s daughter Iris among his pals.Damian’s shadow has been spotted in several bikini photos shared by mum LizCredit: InstagramLiz and Damian are said to be more ‘like siblings’ than mum and sonCredit: INSTAGRAM“They say exactly the same thing, that things to outsiders that may seem totally strange and extraordinary, for us we’ll just have grown up with in everyday life.”‘Like siblings’Life has rarely been normal for Damian, who followed in his mother’s footsteps and bagged his first modelling job at the age of 15.During one of those early gigs, he worked with “old family friend” Naomi Campbell. When he made his first short film, he persuaded his godfather Hugh Grant to star – in a bald skull cap.And growing up around A-list pals like the Beckhams and his other godfather, Sir Elton John, was just the way it was.Mum filled the role of 800 parents at the same timeDamian HurleyDirector and Model”Our parents love to say that Brooklyn Beckham and I were caught raiding and trying on our godfather Elton John’s sunglasses when we were extremely young,” he has said.As a teenager, Damian benefitted from his mum’s fame, starring alongside her in three episodes of the 2015 US soap drama, The Royals. Throughout that time, they remained incredibly close and often shared gushing posts online celebrating each other’s successes.Recently, the director described Liz as his “partner in crime” and in interviews has said they are more “like siblings”.Liz turned down £1.8m in child support payments from Damian’s fatherCredit: PA:Press AssociationDamian with celebrity godfather Sir Elton JohnCredit: Instagram/@damianhurley1He’s grown up in the spotlight and became close with many of his mum’s famous palsCredit: InstagramFamily tragediesDamian attributes their closeness to the difficulties they have faced together including challenges with his father Steve Bing – who initially denied being his paternity and was absent for much of his son’s life.“Mum filled the role of 800 parents at the same time. We are so close. Sometimes like siblings,” Damian said.Businessman Steve, who died from suicide in 2020, dated Liz for a year until 2001 but when she became pregnant, he suggested she had been unfaithful.Later, he offered a staggering £1.8million in child support payments – £100,000 per month – after a DNA test proved he was the father but Liz refused to accept the money. When he died, the pair were said to be devastated that Damian was cut out of the will, but the tragedy brought them closer.  A year after Bing’s death Damian opened up about his grief, saying: “A year ago today, my mother and I received some devastating news. I didn’t realise at the time quite how much it would affect me.I steal leather [her] trousers all the time when we’re the same size. Jackets are always great. Any big, oversized blazers she steals in a heartbeatDamian Hurley”The last year has been bloody hard – for everyone on the planet- and I think acknowledging that is vital. It’s not weak to struggle. “In fact, to get through to the other side is immensely strong.”The model, who revealed he had met his father several times before his death, had previously praised father figures including celebrity godfathers Hugh and Sir Elton for helping to raise him.Damian was also haunted by the loss of Liz’s former fiancé, the late cricketer Shane Warne, who died from a sudden heart attack at the age of 52 while visiting Thailand in 2022. The couple were together between 2010 and 2013, and the sportsman and Damian became very close during that time.”He was a father figure to me for most of my formative years and was truly one the best men I’ve ever known,” Damian said.American businessman and film producer Steve Bing was Damian’s fatherDamian said Shane Warne, Liz’s late fiancé, was ‘one of the best men I’ve ever known’Credit: InstagramHe said Shane’s passing was “unequivocally a tragedy”. Recalling how he felt, he added: “There was no confusion or anger. It was just grief and horrific.”Meanwhile, it was “a very different process” when his biological father died two years earlier with Damian admitting there was “immense grief, a lot of regret, anger [and] sadness”.Speaking of Liz’s support during those difficult times, he said: “My mum has been a phenomenal constant for my entire life, but really in the past few years. I can’t put it into words.”’Relationship cautiousness’Damian was linked to Millie Griffiths, an artist and former school friend, after being photographed together in Portofino, Italy, in 2022.However, he kept quiet about the romance – never addressing nor confirming speculation that they were an item. The model revealed his mum was always “very, very, very cautious” about introducing him to lovers until the relationships were serious. The mum and son starred alongside each other in US soap The RoyalsCredit: E!Damian revealed they often borrow each other’s clothes tooCredit: GettyAnd it seems Damian is the same, telling The Times that he has started seeing someone new but the mystery individual has yet to be introduced to his mum.He said: “If I like them she probably will too. God I hope so.”’Extremely alike’Having both worked in fashion, the mother and son have a lot in common and Damian recently admitted they borrow each other’s clothing. He said: “I steal leather [her] trousers all the time when we’re the same size. Jackets are always great. Any big, oversized blazers she steals in a heartbeat.” The 21-year-old says they are “extraordinarily alike” in general and “apart from having the same face, we are really, really in tune”.Their bond was further strengthened while working together on Damian’s directorial debut Strictly Confidential. After writing the script during lockdown, he realised the main character – a “glamorous, glorious woman” – had to be played by his mother. It led Damian to cash in on a promise Liz made to him when he was eight years old.Liz told Access Hollywood: “As a young kid he was making short movies the whole time, bullying me, friends, family to be in his baby films.“He always said, ‘If I ever get to make a real film will you be in it?’ I said, ‘Absolutely, your first film I will definitely be in’.”Of course, for all I knew he could have ended up being a physicist or something but he didn’t he stayed in the business and he called me on it. Liz found comfort in knowing her son was directing her saucy scenes because it made her feel ‘safe and looked after’Credit: InstagramIn Strictly Confidential, Liz’s character is seduced by a young social media influencerCredit: BackGrid“He said, ‘You know that script that I’ve been writing in my bedroom during lockdown, I can make it Mum,’ so of course I was in it.”Damian says filming over 18 days in the Caribbean was “terrifying” – claiming he lost 20lbs through stress – but thankfully he had his mother there for support.Similarly, Liz found comfort in knowing that he son was at the helm while directing her in scenes many would find uncomfortable. She said: “The things that his script needed me to do weren’t necessarily things I’d done in movies many times before.READ MORE SUN STORIES“But having him there meant that I felt safe and looked after, and I knew, in the production and in the post, he’d look after me.“So actually it’s kind of liberating to work with your family, I may do it again.” More

Some reveal who a song is about while others may give clues to her feelings when recording.Taylor’s wondrous wealth includes around $400million from tours and royaltiesCredit: GettyA huge slice comes from her back catalogue, though it comes just years after she chose to re-record her first few albums as she didn’t own the masters to themCredit: APBut while Taylor’s music catalogue is worth almost £400million, after 11 studio albums, four re-recorded albums and three live albums, there was a time when much of this was not under her control. After she left Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Records, where she recorded her first six albums, her former record label in 2019 sold off a load of her masters, videos and artwork to celebrity manager Scooter Braun without her knowledge.Braun, who has steered the careers of hitmakers including Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, then sold these in 2020 to US-based private equity company Shamrock Holdings for $300million, in a deal that would still see him make money off them. But in 2019, social media whizz Taylor wrote a lengthy Tumblr post calling out Braun, and quickly got the world on her side.Fellow US singer Kelly Clarkson then pitched in with wise advice, suggesting that Taylor re-record her albums.Writing on Twitter, now X, Kelly, 41, said: “Just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on, exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions.”Taylor made the groundbreaking decision to do exactly that in 2021, releasing her own versions of her albums, one at a time, so that she now owns them.It was to prove a very savvy move. Fiercely protective Swifties fought their idol’s corner by refusing to buy her first six albums unless they were Taylor’s own versions, and it was her re-release of fifth album 1989, first put out in 2014, that made Taylor a billionaire.Neither of these men [Braun and Borchetta] had a hand in the writing of those songs. They did nothing to create the relationship I have with my fansTaylor SwiftShe posted on social media in 2019: “I feel very strongly that sharing what is happening to me could change the awareness level for other artists and potentially help them avoid a similar fate.“The message being sent to me is very clear — basically, be a good little girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished. This is WRONG. “Neither of these men [Braun and Borchetta] had a hand in the writing of those songs. They did nothing to create the relationship I have with my fans.“So this is where I’m asking for your help.”Another fellow singer, Sheryl Crow, recently applauded Taylor’s business bravery, writing in Esquire magazine: “You and you alone are responsible for your art . . . [Taylor] came up with solutions for how to not allow her music to be a money-maker for other people when she should be owning it.” American chart-topper Sheryl, 62, added: “There’s not a handbook for how to navigate, as a woman, a business that is predominantly run by men. “Or for when you have a strong woman, how that challenges men and their feelings of importance.”Meanwhile Taylor has also won plaudits for championing the rights of underpaid artists.I’m not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists and creators of this musicTaylor SwiftAfter selling 1.3million copies of 1989, the biggest album of 2014, she stunned the world when she made the decision to remove her whole catalogue of music from Spotify in protest over its low royalty payments.Writing in a piece for the Wall Street Journal a few months earlier, she said: “Valuable things should be paid for. It’s my opinion that music should not be free.”And she said later: “I’m not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists and creators of this music.”After her boycott prompted Spotify to change its royalty policy, she won Saint Taylor status. But she did not return to Spotify for three years, when she agreed improved terms.Indeed, Taylor has grafted for her money, as a prolific songwriter. While the world almost stood still during the Covid pandemic, she was busy making new music.Taylor released her eighth album, Folklore, in July 2020 and within a day had more than 80.6million Spotify streams. She quickly followed this release with with ninth album Evermore, in December of the same year, then Midnights in 2022, and 11th album The Tortured Poets Department is due on April 19.She has also enticed her fans to buy physical copies of her records, leading a revival for vinyl. In 2022, Swifties helped push UK vinyl sales past CDs for the first time in 35 years as they clamoured to get their hands on her Midnights LP.But not everyone is a fan of the trend. US singer Billie Eilish called out Taylor last month over sustainability concerns.Billie, 22, said: “We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging . . .  which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money and gets them more . . . I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is.”Taylor’s wealth also includes her real estate empire. These include eight multi-million-dollar pads across four US states. In 2014, she bought two adjacent penthouses in a New York building for more than £15million.We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging . . .Billie EilishAnd then she has also had major endorsement deals, with brands such as Diet Coke, Keds shoes and CoverGirl cosmetics. And when tickets for her Eras tour went on sale, die-hard fans caused the website Ticketmaster to crash. For those who could not afford the sky-high prices, Taylor also cleverly turned the tour into a film you could see in cinemas.Produced by her own team, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour took around $123million in global box office on the opening weekend alone, as millions of fans dressed up as Taylor to attend the sing-a-long shows. She also reportedly bypassed film distributors, so gaining a 57 per cent cut of the revenue for herself. And with her Eras tour rolling on until the end of this year, there will be a whole lot more riches cascading down into Taylor’s bank accounts.Taylor has made $123million from the film version of her Eras Tour, which is streaming on Disney+She also has around $100million in propertyCredit: Erik Thomas / NY PostFORBES RICH LIST TOP 10

From Netflix hit to marital bliss, inside Guy Ritchie’s new life as he finds true happiness 16 years after Madonna split

IN 1999 Guy Ritchie seemed to have it all thanks to his hit movie Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels as well as the ultimate celebrity girlfriend in Madonna. But over the next 25 years the director went on a rollercoaster ride that meant his private and professional life never peaked simultaneously . . . until now.Guy Ritchie finally found happiness with second wife Jacqui AinsleyCredit: GettyMadonna and Guy Ritchie divorced in 2008 citing irreconcilable differencesCredit: GettyMadonna and Guy were the ultimate It Couple of the NoughtiesCredit: PA:Press AssociationAfter marrying then divorcing Madge, father-of-five Guy, 55, has finally found happiness with his second wife, actress Jacqui Ainsley. And that joy has coincided with one of his biggest hits in years, Netflix gangster series The Gentlemen, which has been viewed on the streaming service 44million times in the UK alone.A TV insider said: “The success of The Gentlemen has been a huge thrill for Guy and, in some ways, a very pleasant surprise as he’s carved out a career as a movie maker.“To suddenly find himself basking in the glory of a hit TV series has been something of an epiphany for him, and the cherry on the cake of the current chapter of his life.READ MORE ON GUY RITCHIE“Finally, he has the happy family he always craved and is enjoying a return to form.”The Gentlemen, which dropped on Netflix last month, is a comedy drama exploring the British class system.Showered with praiseIt is told  through the story of Edward Horniman, played by hunky British actor Theo James who had a big part in The White Lotus. He unexpectedly inherits the estate and title of his late father, The Duke of Halstead. Most read in CelebrityHowever, Eddie also inherits a secret drugs farm underneath the house, which is run by mobsters who refuse to get off his land.So instead of trying to beat them, the new duke joins them in all sorts of illegal enterprises, which are aided by his mother Lady Sabrina, played by Joely Richardson, and his gamekeeper Geoffrey, played by Vinnie Jones. It also stars Giancarlo Esposito, from Breaking Bad, as businessman Stanley Johnson and features Ray Winstone and Daniel Ings.Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s son Rocco, 22, flogs old sofa to fans online despite parents’ BILLION dollar fortune v2The Gentlemen has not just been a hit here, where a crime caper featuring a toff would be a natural fit. Netflix has seen the show top the charts around the globe.Critics have showered it with praise too. One described it as “an absolute boat-load of fun”, while another said “It’s just too fun: the fast cars, the increasingly unhinged baddies and how everything keeps going wrong in ever more spectacular ways.”Perhaps the most poignant remark was that the series was: “Guy Ritchie with all the knobs turned to max.”Despite moving from films to TV, Guy hasn’t ditched his typically English style of storytelling, and has brought together all the elements that forged hit films including 1998’s Lock Stock and 2000’s Snatch.Hit filmsAs well as mobsters, the series features members of the travelling community, boxers, hardmen and hapless characters. And Guy admits the story of The Gentlemen, which he directed as a film in 2019 and spawned the current spin-off TV series, owes much to his early gangster films. He said: “It’s on that frequency, but 20 years later. Everyone evolves — well, hopefully everyone evolves.”Guy’s evolution as a writer, director and producer has moved in tandem with him developing a lifestyle as a happily-married country gent, one that unquestionably inspired his TV hit.Although he came from rather posh stock himself and was privately educated, when he first emerged on the movie scene he seemed to revel in the geezer image of the characters in his films. But it appears he has increasingly returned to his origins, buying Georgion manor Ashcombe House, near Bath, set in 1,134 acres, where he embraces his image as wealthy, landed gentry.Despite making millions, Guy once remarked: “Other than the fact I like a country house, I can’t think of anything I’d want to spend my money on.”Kaya Scodelario as Susie and Theo James as Eddie in Netflix’s The Gentlemen, created by Guy RitchieVinnie Jones as Geoff, pictured right, in The GentlemenCredit: Christopher Rafael/NetflixHe added: “The English countryside is the most staggeringly beautiful place. I can’t spend as much time there as I like, but I like everything about it. I like fishing, I like clay-pigeon shooting.”The house was bought in 2001 when Guy was still married to Madonna and with the pair forming the ultimate It Couple of the Noughties. But in 2002 the rot set in. He had his first film disaster directing and writing Swept Away, a rom-com starring his famous wife that was roundly panned. Then came two more of his gangster movies, Revolver in 2005 and RocknRolla in 2008, that did not have the same impact as his previous hits. Then in 2008 he and Madonna, who had son Rocco and adopted David together, divorced citing irreconcilable differences.Next Guy made the two Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, which were box office successes in 2009 and 2011. It was around this time that Guy met Jacqui, and she recalls the cheeky exchange they had when introduced via mutual friends in London.Shock divorceShe recalled: “Guy said: ‘That’s a pretty dress,’ and I thought, ‘Well, he could just be a bit of a charmer.’ So I said, ‘Are you auditioning for a new wife?’ And he went, ‘Oo-ooh, cocky,’ and we laughed.’”They married four years later at his estate in a star-studded event attended by Brad Pitt, Henry Cavill and David Beckham, and have three children together — Rafael, 13, Rivka, 11, and ten-year-old Levi. And Guy couldn’t have been happier, once remarking: “I love fatherhood. I could bang on about kids for ever.”Though his family life was at its best, he was less fortunate in his career with lukewarm receptions for his remake of The Man from UNCLE in 2015 and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword in 2017.Eyebrows were raised further when he seemed to park his traditional action hero films in favour of writing and directing the Hollywood live-action telling of Aladdin in 2019.I love fatherhood. I could bang on about kids foreverGuy RitchieFurther disappointments came last year with Operation Fortune, a gangster film that ended up airing on Prime Video, and war movie The Covenant, one of the biggest box office bombs of the year.Guy always admitted he had a slightly haphazard approach to filmmaking, once saying: “What I try to do is throw as much mud on the wall as I possibly can and just see what sticks, what shines as quirky or more interesting than the others, and I try to cling on to that.”The film version of The Gentlemen came in 2019, starring Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam and Michelle Dockery. It did well at the box office, but didn’t send many ripples through Hollywood. At its premiere, Guy explained he never wanted the story to be a film, but he was made an offer he “couldn’t say no to”.Guy and Jacqui married at Ashcombe House in a star-studded event attendedCredit: GettyAfter divorcing Madonna, father of five Guy finally found happiness with second wife Jacqui AinsleyCredit: InstagramHe added: “I presented it first as a TV series but as I did, it got snatched off my table and they said: ‘Let’s make it into a film and then we can make it into a TV series.’”Guy found that making the jump from film to TV was not too difficult.READ MORE SUN STORIESHe said: “The characters take on their own life, all you have to do is establish a character and create their own voice, then couple that with an actor and we’re off to the races. You feel this could run and run.”That will be welcome news for Netflix bosses when they ask for The Gentlemen II. Steamiest sex scene secrets from sticky thongs to bum ‘makeovers’ and boob prank that left Ryan Reynolds stunned

ON screen, sex scenes are about giving the viewers what they want – sizzling chemistry and believable passion, all designed to get fans hot under the collar. However, often behind the camera, it’s a totally different story. What goes on behind the scenes is very different to what viewers see on screen… Pictured, Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar Jones during the filming of Normal PeopleCredit: BBCActors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, pictured here in film The Wolf of Wall Street, are pros when it comes to keeping it professionalCredit: Supplied by LMKNetflix’s period drama Bridgerton was renowned for its extremely steamy sex scenesCredit: NetflixThankfully there are some age-old – and quite frankly bizarre – trade secrets and tricks actors use to get through being quite so up-close and personal with their co-stars. Here, the stars reveal what really goes on behind the (sex) scenes, from flesh-coloured modesty pouches to getting ‘hammered’.Practice makes perfect When Netflix series Bridgerton came out all viewers could talk about were the sex scenes – of which there were plenty. In the first series, it was the chemistry between lead actors Phoebe Dynevor, who played Daphne Basset, and Regé-Jean Page, who played husband Duke of Hastings Simon Bassett, which really attracted attention.READ MORE FEATURESSpeaking to Glamour, Phoebe said: “We did the intimate scenes like stunts — we blocked them out, so you have yoga balls in between you and all sorts of things that never make you feel exposed in any way. “You always feel safe. I’d rehearse with Regé so much that we both knew what we were doing. It felt very practical.” Speaking on The Late Show, Rege also revealed: “Phoebe and I had horrendous coffee breath the whole way through!“We made a pact early on. Most read in Celebrity”It’s one of the things that you do – you approach other actors and say, ‘Hey, the scene is after lunch. What are our rules? Are we no onions? Are we no garlic? Do we have to get the coffee in early?’”And then we both were like, ‘Actually, I really like coffee, so I don’t mind that on you.’ Thank God! So we had a coffee safe space the whole way through that show.”Most controversial sex scenes after THAT Jenna Ortega & Martin Freeman romp… including stars who ‘had real sex on film’Bum makeoversActor Jonathan Bailey was also involved in his fair share of sex scenes playing Anthony Bridgerton in the same series – and viewers were actually introduced to his derriere first. He previously joked: “Who wouldn’t want to play a character whose bottom you get to know before the face?” Jonathan Bailey also starred in Netflix period drama Bridgerton, as AnthonyCredit: NetflixJonathan Bailey’s bum got a ‘makeover’ to add some sexy ‘shine’Credit: ITVSpeaking about keeping it professional, the actor added: “Doing any sex scenes felt really empowered and the women felt really safe, which as a man is important, and in turn you feel really safe.”But there is a moment when they say ‘can we lower the britches’ and when I lowered them they were like ‘can we call in make-up?’ And that’s when you go (grimaces) but luckily it was just to shine the botty.”In an interview with Radio Times, the actor said times had changed for the better, saying: “It’s amazing how that whole industry has just come on, even in a year. “There are new tricks to the trade – little cushions – and it’s amazing what you can do with a half-inflated netball.”If there are two people doing a sex scene, the rule is they must have three barriers separating them and there are certain acts where a half-inflated netball can allow for movement without having to connect physically. “It’s pretty silly really and we have some hilarious moments, but it makes it less awkward.”Roll with itAn exercise ball was recruited for one sex scene Kate Winslet was in after she’d injured her ankleCredit: Film CompanyA netball isn’t the only helpful bit of sporting equipment that can be used to aid a sex scene, either. For Kate Winslet, a “little exercise ball” was used to aid a scene in 2005 film Romance and Cigarettes. After spraining her ankle, Director John Turturro said his solution to avoid making the injury worse was to: “Put Kate on a little ball, a little exercise ball.”I had two prop guys to hold her and I realised they may start laughing, so I said, ‘Put something in your mouth because I don’t want you laughing’.”Getting ‘hammered’ Jennifer Lawrence admitted she was extremely nervous before her sex scene with Chris Pratt in 2016 film PassengersCredit: Columbia PicturesIf all else fails, plenty of celebs have admitted to giving themselves a little ‘Dutch courage’ before any particularly intimate scenes. For example, Jennifer Lawrence said before she got down to business on camera in the 2016 film Passengers with co-star Chris Pratt she felt “guilty” as he was married to Anna Faris at the time. She says: “I was like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna get hammered for the sex scene cause it’s stressful and scary.”That led to more anxiety when I got home because I was like, ‘What have I done? I don’t know’.”Speaking about the experience, Chris added: “I’ve done a simulated sex scene before, so it was less weird for me, but for Jen it was the first time she’d ever done anything like that. So [the director] said: ‘Do you want to have a glass of wine?’ Because just like in real life it takes the edge off a bit. “If that’s what it takes to get comfortable, why not?”Margot Robbie was ‘very, very nervous’ ahead of intimate scenes with DiCaprio in 2013 flick The Wolf of Wall StreetCredit: ParamountBarbie star Margot Robbie adopted for the same strategy before filming scenes with Leonardo DiCaprio in 2013 flick The Wolf of Wall Street – although she opted for something a little stronger,She said: “I’m not going to lie, I had a couple of shots of tequila before that scene because I was nervous… very, very nervous.”I did three shots of tequila at like nine in the morning, right before doing it.” Flesh-coloured bags & ‘sticky’ thongsFifty Shades of Grey, starring Jamie Dornan, was absolutely packed with sex scenesCredit: Scope FeaturesOf course, Fifty Shades stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson had more than their fair share of sex scenes, so they’re very much experts in the field. Jamie previously told GQ: “Your dignity is intact as much as it’s all tucked away in a little flesh-coloured bag…”As a guy you put all your essentials in a little bag and you tie it up like a little bag of grapes and it’s tucked away. It’s quite a peculiar thing to do every day.”Speaking to Marie Claire, Dakota added: “I had these sort of strapless thongs that had glue on them. Dakota Johnson has revealed she would wear ‘sticky’ strapless thongs to preserve her modestyCredit: TNI Press”It’s not glue, but it’s sticky.
