Katie Price offered £5,000 to stop owning pets as animal charity makes desperate plea to star after string of deaths

KATIE Price has been offered £5,000 to stop owning pets in a desperate bid by an animal charity. It comes as the former glamour model, 45, has come under fire in the past after the deaths of at least seven pets in her care.

She has come under fire in the past after the deaths of at least seven petsCredit: Instagram
In January, Katie welcomed a £1,200 Sphynx kitten in the same month that she gave away her latest puppy Tank, because the pooch “doesn’t look cute on Instagram” anymore.
Following the news that Katie has bought yet another animal, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has offered the TV personality £5,000 in exchange for signing a legally binding agreement promising never to acquire another animal.
PETA said that “things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision” – with at least seven dying, while others have been sold or given away.
Despite these issues and much public criticism, the model continues to obtain new pets, prompting PETA’s proposition.
    READ MORE ON KATIE PRICE
In a letter to the star, they wrote: “While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned.”
“Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution,” the PETA Vice President Elisa Allen added.
The letter goes on to say that Katie’s acceptance of the proposal would be applauded by her fans and send a strong message about the importance of acting in the best interests of animals.
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, “that animals are not ours to abuse in any way” – notes that life with an animal companion can be extremely rewarding, but it’s also a huge responsibility that takes time, resources, patience, and commitment.
