      CNN journalist Anderson Cooper was set up on a blind date with Andy Cohen in the 1990s by a mutual friend.
      The pair sat with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to discuss their friendship, with Cooper saying: “I knew within 45 seconds, I was never going on a date with Andy Cohen.”
      He continued: “I imagined him in like a Bluetooth headset, gesticulating. He was all excited, and he violated my cardinal rule, which is he asked me about my mom within the first minute of talking to me.” 
      Cohen chimed in saying: “I wanted to date the Vanderbilt boy! I was excited.”

      Fallon asked Cohen if he remembered the call that way, and he responded, “I remember that something that I did made him shut down, so now I know.” 
      Cooper added: “It wasn’t even a question. It was just, ‘Your mother is Gloria Vanderbilt,’ and I was like, ‘OK, yeah, this is not happening.'”
      Despite the encounter and questions about Cooper’s mother, the two went on to become best friends and traveled together with mutual acquaintances on several occasions.
      Cohen told USA Today that the pair’s relationship has blossomed through the years, saying: “We’ve gotten much closer since I’ve had the talk show, and since we’ve been on tour together.

      The platonic pair have hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve show live from Times Square in New York City since 2016.

      Cooper was on and off with Benjamin Maisani, a property owner and businessman for a few years. 
      The pair started dating back in 2009 and were together for nine years before confirming they had split back in 2018.
      Despite being together since 2009, they only went public with their relationship in 2015.
      They called it quits after it was revealed that Cooper had taken at least five trips to Dallas, where he had been spending time with Doctor Victor Lopez.
      At the time of the breakup, Cooper told ET Online: “Benjamin and I separated as boyfriends some time ago, we are still family to each other, and love each other very much.”

      Emmy Award-winning Andrew Joseph Cohen was born on June 2, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri.
      He got his start in the media industry as an intern at CBS in the 1990s.
      From there he went on to work as a senior producer on The Early Show, on top of producing 48 Hours.
      In 2004, Cohen landed a job at Bravo, where he has been ever since.

      Cohen has his own show and pop culture channel on SiriusXM Radio, Andy Cohen Live.
      In 2009, he became the first-ever openly gay host of a late-night talk show when Watch What Happens Live premiered on the Bravo network.
      The television personality also served as Bravo’s executive vice president of Development and Talent until 2013.

      Cohen explained to People how he “didn’t want to wait” any longer to become a father, even if it meant doing it as a single parent.
      “It’s not something in your mind – ‘Oh, I want to do this alone.’ But I like being alone. I didn’t want to wait,” Cohen said previously.
