    And Cillian, 47, is the first Irish-born star to win the Leading Actor Bafta.
    During his speech, where he referred to his co-stars as his “Oppen-homies”, he said: “Oppenheimer was this colossally knotty complex character.
    “One man’s monster is another man’s hero. That’s why I love movies.”

    Tracy Beaker star Mia McKenna-Bruce beats The Bear and Saltburn stars to win BAFTA EE Rising Star award

    TRACY Beaker star Mia McKenna-Bruce beat The Bear and Saltburn stars and won the BAFTA EE Rising Star award last night.Actors and actresses from the industry gathered as London’s Southbank Centre to attend the 77th prestigious awards ceremony on Sunday.

    The EE Bafta Rising Star award, selected by the public, celebrates budding talent in the industry.
    The likes of The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri, Saltburn’s Jacob Elordi and Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor were up for the gong.
    But it was 26-year-old Mia’s stint in How To Have Sex which saw her win the award.
    After being crowned winner of such a tough category, Mia said: “Thanks to my little sisters, who keep reminding me that I’m not that cool – maybe I am now?”

    “Thank you so much BAFTA, EE, from the bottom of my heart…,” she added.
    “To get to do the thing that I love in the whole entire world… is amazing.”
    This year’s star-studded event saw a total of 38 films up for awards and it was hosted by David Tennant.
    Mia started her acting career in 2008, but is best known for her role as Tee Taylor in CBBC’s Tracy Beaker Returns between 2010 and 2012.

    It was a top night for Christopher Nolan’s epic biopic Oppenheimer.
    The film scooped seven awards out of 13 nominations as it dominated the ceremony.
    Nolan won Best Director for the first time in his career – and earned a standing ovation from the audience.
    Leading actor winner Cillian Murphy received rapturous applause as his name was announced.
    Oppenheimer’s success was closely followed by Poor Things, which took home five gongs including Emma Stone’s win as Leading Actress.
    She beat Margot Robbie to the award, meaning Barbie left empty-handed after being snubbed by Bafta.
    Her co-star Ryan Gosling also missed out on Supporting Actor – and struggled to understand a Coronation Street-related joke made by host David Tennant.
    The Zone of Interest won Outstanding British Film and Film Not in English.
    Meanwhile Oompa Loompa actor Hugh Grant took a cheeky swipe at the Bafta nominees about their films being “too long” in a Willy Wonka gag.
    Back to the Future legendary actor Michael J Fox had everyone up on their feet as he came on stage in a wheelchair to present Best Film.
    The star – who has Parkinson’s – was cheered as he took the final steps to the podium to announce Oppenheimer’s success.  More

    Where are the 2024 Baftas being held?

    BRITAIN’s answer to the Oscars is returning for its 77th instalment.Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 Bafta ceremony, from the venue, to the winners of the top awards.

    When are the Baftas 2024?
    The 2024 Baftas will take place on Sunday, February 18th.
    Celebrating the best UK and world films of 2023, the ceremony will be on TV from 7pm.
    Although when you watch the show it appears to be live, it actually airs with a two-hour delay.
    So none of the winners are actually announced live on TV.

    Where are the 2024 Baftas being held?
    From 2016, the Bafta Awards were held at the Royal Albert Hall, until finding a new venue in 2023.
    Since then, the awards ceremony has been held at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall.
    Who is presenting the Bafta awards?
    David Tennant will be hosting tonight’s proceedings.
    Leading the red carpet arrivals will be Florence Pugh, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Michelle Keegan.

    They began dating last month and went to the­ ­theatre in London on Friday.
    Dua wore a red cape dress that trailed behind her on stage and complimented her newly-coloured locks as she posed for the cameras.

    It was a top night for Christopher Nolan’s epic biopic Oppenheimer.
    The film scooped seven awards out of 13 nominations as it dominated the ceremony.
    Nolan won Best Director for the first time in his career – and earned a standing ovation from the audience.
    Leading actor winner Cillian Murphy received rapturous applause as his name was announced.
    Oppenheimer’s success was closely followed by Poor Things, which took home five gongs including Emma Stone’s win as Leading Actress.
    She beat Margot Robbie to the award, meaning Barbie left empty-handed after being snubbed by Bafta.
    Her co-star Ryan Gosling also missed out on Supporting Actor – and struggled to understand a Coronation Street-related joke made by host David Tennant.
    The Zone of Interest won Outstanding British Film and Film Not in English.
    Meanwhile Oompa Loompa actor Hugh Grant took a cheeky swipe at the Bafta nominees about their films being “too long” in a Willy Wonka gag.
    Back to the Future legendary actor Michael J Fox had everyone up on their feet as he came on stage in a wheelchair to present Best Film.
    The star – who has Parkinson’s – was cheered as he took the final steps to the podium to announce Oppenheimer’s success.

    Emily opted for a floor-length black gown with a plunging neckline, simple black shoes and minimalistic jewellery.
    She complemented the stylish look with her blonde locks curled into an effortless style and glamorous, barely-there makeup.
    The Inbetweeners actress, 34, is expecting her first child with scientist Dr Alistair Garner, which she announced back in December.
    She has only been pictured publicly with Dr Alistair on one occasion – in September of last year – and has shared very little details about the romance.

    The Sun previously revealed that Alistair is the son of her late uncle – Dr Stephen Garner – who married Emily’s aunt Jane Robbins in 1994.
    An insider said: “Emily and Alistair consider themselves more family friends but they are cousins who aren’t related by blood.
    “They grew up together and have always got on really well, but last year they started to get closer.
    “It has been a really natural evolution of their friendship and they both have strong feelings for each other.

    “I’m delighted to share with you all that we’re having a baby!!
    “I’ve never been so happy and utterly terrified at the same time. Please go easy on me. Every day is mixed with thrill, fear, joy, hysteria, topped off with a lot of vomiting – a bit like when you’ve just stepped off of the Oblivion at Alton Towers on a hangover.”
    “I’ve got to know my body on such an insane level. It’s made me appreciate the one I’ve been given SO much, I’m doing my absolute best to make it a home for the little squid I’m growing.
