SPENCER Matthews has come a long way since starting life as a reality star on Made In Chelsea.
Since then his career has gone from strength to strength, and has seen him turn his hand to documentary filmmaking.
Who is Spencer Matthews?
Socialite Spencer Matthews, born on August 6, 1989, is the son of landowner David Matthews and successful artist Jane Matthews.
His brother James Matthews is married to Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa and is the heir to a Scottish title, Laird of Glen Afraig – which is a glen located in the village of Cannich in the Highlands.

Reality star Spencer was put through a tip-top education at Eton, and split his childhood between St Barths and Caunton Maon in Lincolnshire.
He shot to fame in 2011, when he joined the cast of reality TV show Made In Chelsea, which follows the lives of affluent socialites from West London.

Spencer remained on the show until 2016, delighting fans with his womanising ways and witty lines.
In 2012, he appeared as “the bachelor” in The Bachelor UK series 5, which saw him pick Khloe Evans to be his girlfriend.

Then in 2015, Spencer won a coveted spot on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
However, he was forced to leave after just three days, after he confessed to producers that he’d been taking Class C steroid medication in preparation for a charity boxing match.

What happened to Spencer’s brother Michael?
Tragically, Spencer’s oldest brother Michael died in a mountaineering accident in 1999 on Mount Everest, just hours after becoming the youngest Briton to conquer the peak.
To honour his late brother, Spencer fronted the Disney+ documentary Finding Michael.
The film saw him travel to Everest to try and find his brother’s body.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun in 2023, Spencer explained the importance of making the documentary.
He told us: “It was important for me to get my head around the fact I might come face-to-face with my brother’s frozen body.
“I spoke to a therapist before going there because I knew it was going to be a gut-wrenching and emotional journey.
“And I knew living at altitude for over a month would be tough too.”

The star hasn’t just lived off his parents’ fortune though – he has made his own money.
Before becoming a reality star, he started his working life off as a PR manager at posh London clubs, such as Movida.

Other earnings come from being a shareholder in his parent’s hotel, Eden Rock in the Caribbean.

The reality star met model and TV presenter Vogue Williams in 2017, whilst they were filming Channel 4’s The Jump, which Spencer actually went onto win.
Not wanting to hang around, the happy couple tied the knot in 2018 at his family’s estate in Scotland.
Spencer has since revealed how he knew they would get married, and told the Daily Mail: “The very first day we met I told her we would marry… it was probably a little premature, but I was right!”
The pair had their first child, son called Theodore in September 2018.
In 2020 their daughter Gigi was born, with their third child Otto arriving in April 2022.
The couple also had their own E4 show, Spencer, Vogue And Baby Too.
The show was so popular with audiences that it returned for a second series.

Before settling down, Spencer had a long romance with Caggie Dunlop, which was documented on Made In Chelsea’s first three series.
He also had a fling with Louise Thompson which continued after he split from Caggie – until Louise found out he cheated on her.
Other MIC cast members he has dated include Lucy Watson, Stephanie Pratt, and Lauren Hutton.
Spencer briefly dated Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison, and romanced model Morgane Robart.
Will Spencer Matthews be on The Great Celebrity Bake Off?
In 2024, it was revealed Spencer was part of the Celebrity Bake Off line-up.
Revealing the news on Instagram, he said: “Delighted to announce I will be joining Paul Hollywood, @alisonhammond55, @prueleith and @noel_fielding in the tent on @su2cuk this spring.”
Spencer will be joined in the tent by a batch of well known faces, including Sara Cox and Danny Dyer.
