Strictly’s Gorka reveals his future on BBC show after fans were convinced he’d QUIT show in 2024

GORKA Marquez has set the record straight on claims that he’s set to leave Strictly Come Dancing, after seven years as a professional dancer.

The 33-year-old has silenced rumours that he will leave the BBC show, having joined back in 2016.

In a live Q& A with fans on social media, the Spanish dancer who is married to Hollyoaks actress turned DJ, Gemma Atkinson, 39, told his followers that he has no plans to quit.

When asked if he has any plans after strictly, he said: “I have lots of things planned but I want to do them at the same time. I don’t want to leave the best show on TV.”

After reaching the final with Helen Skelton, 40 in 2022, Gorka had a less promising season last year, after being partnered with broadcaster, Nikita Kanda, they were the second to be eliminated.

Indeed in the last few years, there has been much speculation around Gorka’s future on the show, with suggestions that like other dancers before him, he had got itchy feet.

Having narrowly missed out on the glitterball in 2022, some suggest that the star is feeling frustrated that luck has no far eluded him.

Indeed when he left last season in week two, fans on social media speculated that this year could be his last.

Writing on Reddit, one person said: “I can see Gorka leaving.”

Another said: “Anyone else have a feeling that Gorka will call it a day after this series if he’s out early doors with Nikita?”

A third penned: “I was quite surprised he came back this year after he seemed so devastated not to win in 2022, but I’ll be really gutted if he does leave as I see him as one of the best pro dancers and choreo.”

Meanwhile Gorka is happily engaged to Gemma whom he met on Strictly in 2016 and the couple now have two young children.

With a small family to support Gorka, who also appears as a judge on the Spanish version of the show, has no intention of quitting the hit.

Indeed his fiancé who is an experienced showbiz professional has perhaps also advised him that Strictly provides an invaluable platform.

At the end of last year, he was asked in a similar Q&A whether he would remain on the show.

He said: “I get asked this a lot! I hope so, it’s not my decision but I would love to!!

“It’s the best show on TV and I am grateful to have the chance to be a small part in it.”
