AN AMERICAN rocker has revealed he’s reconnected with his terminally ill sister admitting she has just days to live.
The thrash metal performer opened up about his family struggles in a candid message on X, where he told fans: “Life’s too short not to reach out to loved ones.”
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, 62, created the Los Angeles-based band in 1983.
They are known as one of the “big four” of their genre, joining Anthrax, Metallica and Slayer.
Their debut album Killing Is My Business … And Business Is Good hit shelves two years later.
Dave has been the stalwart of the group amid a host of line-up changes.

As of 2023, they had clocked up 50million album sales worldwide.
Family shock
Dave, known for his songwriting talent, was born into a Jehovah’s Witness family.
He told fans how religion had been the cause of his fractured relationship with sibling Suzanne.
Dave explained to fans: “I just got a shocking Facetime video call from my sister Suzanne.

“Sadly she is going to be leaving this earth in a few days, she is in the grasp of Parkinson’s and dementia, and is starting to have her organs shut down.
“That was hard enough but the fact that we haven’t spoken in probably 20 years is even worse.
“Imagine my delight to get a Facetime video from her today.
“Even though she can’t speak anymore, I knew it was her.”
In his raw message he added: “I just kept telling her how much I love her and I know she’s going to be slipping out of her body and her spirit’s going to be free soon.
“Sadly she is going to be leaving this earth in a few days, she is in the grasp of Parkinson’s and dementia

“So bizarre national sibling day that I would hear from my sister who I haven’t spoken to in so long, in the state of affairs that she’s currently dealing with, and the fact that even though she didn’t want to have anything to do with me growing up because she was a Jehovahs Witness, I kept trying and imagine how happy I am to have seen her phone call today and not be a butt dial.”
Fans were quick to throw their support behind the Symphony Of Destruction hitmaker.
One took to X to write: “Sorry to hear this man, glad you got to see her, I just lost my father in law to dementia, I know how much of a bummer it is man, stay strong man, sorry the situation is what it is man.”
A second put: “Love and Prayers Dave. Thank you for sharing,” as a third continued: “Sorry to hear about your loss Dave.”

One simply added: “Heartbreaking news.”
Dave is no stranger to medical diagnoses himself, admitting he had throat cancer back in 2019.
It saw Megadeth’s tour scrapped so he could give himself the best chance of recovery.

Dave also has older sisters Michelle and Debbie.
He has previously opened up on his rollercoaster family life and told how “life unraveled in a great many ways.”
