HOLLYWOOD came out in droves this week to celebrate this year’s 96th Academy Awards, including Superman legend Diane Lane who graced Vanity Fair’s Oscar After Party red carpet.

Diane is no stranger to the Oscars, as the New York City-born actress was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Connie Sumner in thriller and romance film Unfaithful, which she starred alongside Chicago actor Richard Gere in 2002.

The former child star appears to have found the elixir of youth, as she has seemingly not aged a day since starring in blockbuster hit films such as The Perform Storm in 2000, which grossed £257 million worldwide.

Diane played Christina Cotter, love interest  Mark Wahlerg, 52, before making her a household name.

When asked last year by the Las Vegas Review Journal what the secret to her youthful appearance was, The Outsiders actress listed yoga and positive thinking as influences on her defying the ageing process.

She said: “I think the secret to happiness is having a Teflon soul. Whatever comes your way, you either let it slide or you cook with it. I also do yoga, it serves me well. The endorphins are amazing, and I swear I get my heart rate up.”

The actress made her acting debut at the age of 14 in 1979’s rom-com film A Little Romance.

Diane starred in a string of film roles before receiving an Emmy-nomination for  western miniseries Lonesome Dove in 1989, and critical acclaim for her role in 1999s A Walk on the Moon.

The iconic actress played Superman actor Henry Cavill, 40, mother Martha Kent, in 2013’s Man of Steel.

Their relationship included highs and lows, including a 2004 incident which led to Josh being arrested on a misdemeanour charge of domestic battery.

Diane later declined to press charges and referred to the incident through a spokesperson as a ‘misunderstanding’.

This year marked the first time that coverage of the Academy Awards in the UK has been free-to-air in 20 years, and had been watched on ITV by a whooping 1.9 million viewers.
