Noughties dance legends to release first album in 13 years – and reveal odd requests they get from fans

NOUGHTIES dance legends CASCADA are gearing up for a comeback that has me reminiscing about my days clubbing while at Leeds uni.

The group will drop their first album in 13 years in October.

In an exclusive chat, frontwoman Natalie Horler, told me: “It’s inspired by the times of [New York club] Studio 54.

“We’re doing a take in a more modern disco style. I’m so excited about it because it’s been a while since I’ve done a whole album. It’s nearly finished.”

Rather than be sent songs to wade through, the Everytime We Touch singer, who appears on a remix of Jax Jones’s latest single Never Be Lonely, has been putting pen to paper herself.

Natalie continued: “I haven’t done a lot of songwriting on my own so I’m more than excited to be able to put my own tracks on this album.

“I’ve been fortunate not to have gone through too much heartbreak, but I’ve had many friends that have and when you’re close to them, you know what they’re feeling. I write from their experiences.”

When Cascada first topped the charts 20 years ago the trials of social media didn’t exist.

This time around Natalie has had to make sure her Instagram and TikTok game is strong to deal with odd requests.

She added: “I don’t really get weird things but it does happen once in a while. Recently someone messaged asking if they could have my worn socks.”

Saucy Liz is simply the biz

DAMIAN Hurley says it “felt totally normal” directing his famous mum Liz in saucy movie scenes.

The model turned budding director will make his debut behind the camera with Strictly Confidential, which features Liz getting down and dirty with another woman.

He said: “I hate to say that it felt totally normal. I was speaking to my friends who are also second generation of parents in the industry. They say exactly the same thing, that things to outsiders that may seem totally strange, for us we’ll just have grown up with in everyday life.”

I have to admit he has left me baffled.

Blue and Mental hit it off

THIS year has already given us huge records from Ariana Grande and Beyonce.

But I can reveal the next few months will also see a flurry of greatest hits albums from some of the nation’s best-loved bands.

Rudimental and Blue have been quietly putting together reworked packages.

Blue will kick off a 15-date UK tour in Liverpool this month, followed by two shows at The London Palladium.

For fans wanting to see Rudimental live, the Feel The Love singers will play a string of festival shows this summer including Land Beyond Festival in Brighton in May and Parklife in Manchester in June.

BEYONCE’S new album Cowboy Carter has the makings of being the biggest of her career.

It debuted on Spotify with 76.13million streams in its first 24 hours.

The feat is double that achieved by her2022 No1 album Renaissance and it earned the title of Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day for the year so far.

TV Navid has a new job

HE failed to impress Lord Sugar on The Apprentice but it turns out Navid Sole made a pretty big impact when he hung out with Kim Petras and Janet Jackson.

Insiders tell me the pharmacist from series 16 in 2022, who has long dreamt of becoming a singer, was introduced to them by Naomi Campbell during a dinner in London’s The Twenty Two club.

And today Navid is flying to New York to work on a new song with Kim.

A source said: “Navid is meeting Kim and her producer [to work] on a track this week in the Big Apple.

“Janet said she wants to get involved too and would be up for helping direct the music video.

“Navid is beyond excited about the opportunity and can’t wait to start working with Kim and her team.”

What would Lord Sugar think of that?

Nicki Bear essentials

LESS clearly is more for Nicki Minaj.

The Super Bass hitmaker showed off her curves in this slashed purple leotard and matching glittery boots as she continued her Pink Friday 2 tour.

The rapper also rocked her signature bright pink wig as she took to the stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Never one to keep things simple, she switched into a long green dress before stripping down to another booty-baring leotard.

She was joined on stage by fellow rapper 50 Cent for a rendition of Pink Friday album track Beep Beep.

The show was watched by Nicki’s three-year-old son Papa Bear.

During 2012 hit Starships she shouted out: “Go papa! Go papa! Mommy loves you.”

Nicki famously has a potty mouth, so I sure hope he wasn’t paying full attention.

Dolly in suicide struggle

HER music has brought so much joy, yet Dolly Parton has told how she became so low that she considered suicide.

The 9 to 5 singer spoke frankly about hitting rock bottom in the Nineties.

Dolly said: “I was overweight, I was feeling bad and I was going through a business relationship and I had felt betrayed.

“It was one of those perfect storms.

“I wasn’t going to commit suicide, but I pondered.

“I never went to a therapist, just went to my guitar, started writing songs.

“My music is my best therapy.

“Not everybody knew what I was going through, I was just working wounded.

“You don’t stop living just because you have a broken heart or a broken spirit.

“You’ve still got jobs to do.”

Ever the optimist, Dolly added on US radio Sirius XM: “I bet nearly everybody has been in the dumps that I’ve had.

“I always said I’d rather be rocky road than vanilla.”

That’s why we love you, Dolly.

Call for Lindsay freaks

DISNEY has started recruiting for the follow-up to cult 2003 film Freaky Friday.

The news comes three weeks after Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed she had signed up to reprise her role as Tess Coleman.

Disney has now put out a casting call for actors for the sequel, which will also feature Lindsay Lohan.

The sequel will follow Lindsay’s character Anna as she struggles to cope with being a single mum to her 14-year-old daughter Harper while also planning her wedding to a British restaurateur.

There is no word on when the film will be out but it comes off the back of a remarkable return to form for Lindsay.

Her latest movie, Irish Wish, is in the top three most-watched films in the UK on Netflix.

I’m not sure the new Freaky Friday will have as much of an impact as the original but I have high hopes nevertheless.
