Netflix hid ‘clue’ that reveals whether Baby Reindeer is getting a second series – did you spot it?

IT’s the story of a female stalker that has become a surprise smash hit, but Netflix have kept Baby Reindeer fans guessing about whether there will be a second series.

Based on comedian Richard Gadd’s one man show, the black comedy tells the story of barman Donny Dunn, as his life unravels when he becomes entangled with an unhinged woman called Martha after he offers her a cup of tea in a London bar.

The show which has become a word-of-mouth hit, shooting to Number 1 in the UK and the US, has been drawn from Gadd’s, 34, real-life experience back in 2015, when he fell victim to a female stalker 20 years his senior.

The so-called Baby Reindeer maniac then hounded the comic with more than 41,000 emails, 744 tweets, 100 pages of letters and 350 hours of voicemails in a reign of terror that lasted four years.

But now fans have spotted that Netflix has been clever to disguise the truth about a second series.

The show is currently listed as a limited series, which usually means it’s a one-off and won’t return. A limited series suggests that the show has a pre-determined story that will end within a select number of episodes.

However, perhaps due to the unexpected success of the show, Netflix are now choosing to keep quiet about whether or not a sequel will be commissioned and are currently refusing to comment either way.

Indeed the show has resonated so much, that online sleuths have tracked down the real stalker who the character of Martha is allegedly based on, even though Scot-born Gadd went to great pains to conceal her identity.

The real life Martha has been unmasked as Scottish law graduate Fiona Harvey, whose social media page is sprawled with criticism of Richard and his new show.

In post she claims he’s angry because he wanted to sleep with her. She says: claimed the show’s creator wanted to sleep with her.

She wrote online: “My boyfriend thinks Gadds is angry that he never freckin got me in the bedsheets.

“His main fantasy was to f*** me. He thinks that’s what eats him up the most.”

In one she blasted: “Gadd is no Brad Pitt.”

Elsewhere, she hit out: “There’s a fat actress that’s supposed to be me.”

The 58 -year -old from Aberdeen shire admits to meeting Richard many years ago when he was a bartender at The Hawley Arms in London’s Camden, once a favorite haunt of the late singer, Amy Winehouse.

The former law student also confirms that they became friends, but denies stalking him and is now said to be threatening Netflix with legal action.

She told the Scottish Sun:

“I have a claim against Netflix as this is being billed as part of a true story.

“I’m a highly competent lawyer. I’d have to do it myself. I’m very good.

“I have a photographic memory and can memorise huge files. I was top in my school at everything.”

The ‘lawyer’ says she first discovered the show when Richard performed it for the first time at the Edinburgh Fringe back in 2019, as a one man show.

She said: “He’s come up with this character called Martha and he has put me right in the frame.

“This is a programme for the 20-somethings. The people with no lives, no jobs, whatever. I don’t want to be a celebrity.”

Netflix are refusing to confirm whether the show will continue or not, now that they have a hit on their hands
