The event, which streamed live for the first time on Netflix, saw some iconic reunions from the cast of film and TV classics to present awards.

Most notable was Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway – who starred together in The Devil Wears Prada – appearing on stage together.

In honour of the moment, Anne paid homage to a scene from the film by wearing a cerulean blue gown with a large belt.

Emily, who was also nominated this year for a Supporting Actress gong for her role in Oppenheimer, contrasted beautifully in a stunning red.

She eventually lost out to Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who looked stunning as she took to the stage in a champagne gold gown.

In her emotional speech, Da’Vine – who won for her portrayal of Mary Lamb in The Holdovers – commemorated her sharp rise to fame this awards season and honoured actors who are continuing to climb the ranks

She said: “For every actor out there still waiting in the wings for their chance, let me tell you, your life can change in a day.

“It is not a question of if, but when. Keep going. Thank you.”

Jennifer Aniston showed off a fancy sharp bob cut and looked stunning in a silver gown with thigh high slit that complimented her tan.

The Friends star was up for an award as part of the ensemble of The Morning Show, and presented Barbra Streisand the Life Achievement Award for her six decades in the industry.

Choking up on stage, Aniston was joined by Bradley Cooper as they celebrated Streisand’s trailblazing work in film, music and theatre.

Another star who embraced a dramatic bob was Carey Mulligan, who looked glam in a gold Armani Privé gown.

Margot Robbie, who leads the cast of Barbie, continued her running theme of Barbie-inspired dresses in a black and pink gown.

The outfit was comprised of a black mini-dress with a huge pink bow that draped down her side and turned into a train.

Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey, who has just welcomed her first baby, looked incredible in a form-fitting wine red, fishtail gown with a huge diamond necklace.

Ali Wong – who took home an award for her role in Netflix’s Beef – caught the eye on the red carpet in a black and white off-shoulder gown with huge diamonds protruding from it.

Elsewhere, the stars of Ted Lasso made sure their final awards season for the much loved Apple TV+ show went out in style with a collection of iconic looks.

Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond boss Rebecca on the show, wore a blood red boatneck dress with a thigh high split and her hair swept into an updo.

In contrast, Juno Temple left her tightly curled hair loose in a navy blue gown.

Sadly, the cast went home empty-handed as Disney+ and Hulu’s The Bear swept the comedy category.

The series – which centres on a struggling restaurant in Chicago – saw Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edibiri both take home awards for their performances, with the cast also getting a collective gong as well.

Ted Lasso wasn’t the only notable snub from the evening’s celebrations – with Succession, which ended its four-season run las year – going home with only one award despite being tipped to win big.

The cast of Modern Family reunited on stage in order to present the team with the best cast award in a television drama, but apart from that all other awards evaded them.

Kieran Culkin, who was expected to win for outstanding male performance in a drama for his portrayal of Roman Roy, was beaten by Pedro Pascal for The Last Of Us.

Even Pedro himself admitted he wasn’t expected to win, telling the audience he was already drunk when he had to go up on stage because he thought he could drink.
