Jimmy Carr’s changing face as he jokes ‘little original remains’ & reveals his surgery ‘red line’ ahead of Netflix show

HE famously joked about being unable to be cremated due to having had “too much plastic surgery” and that standing next to a naked flame would be “very dangerous”.

There’s no denying Jimmy Carr’s appearance has drastically changed from his younger years and the Channel 4 comedian has often been the first to admit it.

The 51-year-old, whose new Netflix comedy special Jimmy Carr: Natural Born Killer was released today, has previously confessed to having had a hair transplant, veneers and Botox injections.

He said “very little” of his original face still exists due to extensive cosmetic work and spoke about having “gone a bit crazy” during lockdown – admitting it was “a proper midlife crisis”.

Last month, the 8 Out Of 10 Cats host revealed the one cosmetic procedure his surgeon refused to perform – despite claiming a hit singer previously underwent the op.

On the Happy Hallow Jeans podcast, Jimmy recalled: “I’d asked him about buccal fat reduction, one of the guys from One Direction had it done, I think it’s Liam [Payne].

“I’m sure you can get a picture up, but they take out the fat there [points to the sides of his mouth] so, you go from having, I mean I’ve always had chubby little cheeks.

“It doesn’t matter how much weight I lose. I could be 50kg and I would still have chubby cheeks. But they take out the fat from here [pointing to his cheeks] so that you look chiselled and model-y (sic).”

Jimmy said his plastic surgeon was hesitant about the procedure due to patients looking worse in their fifties and often asked to have it reversed.

He added that the medical professional often told him “nope, we’re not doing that” after hearing his suggestions, much to his amusement.

Despite that, Jimmy looks very different to when he started out on TV back in the early Noughties and, by his own admission, has had “everything done”.

Here we look at how his face changed over the years as he sought to slow down the ageing process.

Botox

Amar Suchde, founder of AMS Aesthetics, told The Sun in 2021 that a large part of his transformation is down to shedding some timber.

It’s clear looking back at older photos from the Nineties – when he sported long hair – and the early noughties that the comedian has lost weight over the years.

The comedian attributed it to intermittent fasting and according to Amar wrinkles from shedding pounds led him to Botox use.

He said: “Jimmy has clearly lost a lot of weight over the years.”

Amar added that he believes the comic has regular Botox treatment on his forehead to remove some of his lines to make him look more fresh.

He added: “There still seems to be some movement which may indicate a smaller dosage such as that used in Baby Botox.”

Speaking on the subject of Botox, Jimmy quipped his face was “like Trigger’s broom from Only Fools and Horses, very little of the original is still there”.

Hair transplant

Jimmy explained he had the hair transplant procedure after worrying he was beginning to resemble a “snooker-playing vampire”.

He detailed how the procedure worked, saying: “So what happened was my hair was socially distancing from my forehead and I’d had enough of it.

He’s done really well to maintain the character of his face

“I shaved my head and what they do is take hairs from the back of your head and they put them on the front.

“Basically I had enough hair, it was just in the wrong place. It was a bit of redistribution.”

In a blog post, Harley Street Hair Clinic confirmed Jimmy had Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), which they said leads to “full growth coming through within about 12 months after treatment”.

They noted that the comedian’s decision to have the procedure during lockdown was well-timed as it meant he could “recover a few months out of the public eye before he could show off his new look”.

Under-eye fillers and laser treatments

Amar previously told us Jimmy wears a considerable amount of make-up on set and in shoots, but it’s believed he’s had under-eye fillers to slow the signs of ageing.

He added that he may well have also had fillers in his cheeks to replace any facial fat lost during his weight loss journey.

“Increasing amounts of men are seeking masculinisation aesthetic treatments; focusing particularly on the jawline, to give it more width and make it more aligned and Jimmy may well have had this treatment,” he explained.

“His skin looks fantastic and I suspect he’s had a number of laser skin resurfacing treatments to give it that youthful  glow.

“It also looks like he may have had skin tightening treatments and under eye fillers.”

Amar said he believes Jimmy has done really well to “maintain the character” of his face and not take aesthetic treatments too far.

“Rather, he’s just kept up with little tweakments to maintain a fresh look as he is in the spotlight,” he said.

Maintaining is the thing, I don’t think there’s anything you can do plastic surgery wise, or augmentation wise, that makes you look better. You can just sort of stay the same, that’s what you can hope for.

In 2021, the specialist reckoned the work Jimmy would have cost in the region of £1,000 to £3,000.

Bright white teeth

Harley Street dentist Dr Anjum Jahan reckons Jimmy has helped combat ageing with some clever dental work.

She thinks the comedian is likely to have had Chairside Teeth whitening – light-activated whitening – which would set him back around £500-800.

In 2021, Dr Jahan said: “This is the most likely option as his teeth are a bright white.”

He may also have opted for veneers which is a layer of material placed over each tooth to protect it from damage.

Veneers

She said: “It is very difficult to tell whether the veneers are made from composite or porcelain.

“If they are composite, then the price can range between £250-£500 per tooth.

“If made of porcelain price can be £650-£1000 per tooth.”

Dr Jahan estimated that Jimmy is likely to have had more than £7,000 of dental work back in 2021.

In recent years, the comedian said he is more focussed on maintaining his look rather than trying to change his appearance.

He added: “Maintaining is the thing, I don’t think there’s anything you can do plastic surgery wise, or augmentation wise, that makes you look better.
