‘Cost of living must be bad,’ joke Radio 2 fans as Jo Whiley sells old lights for bargain price – despite £230k salary

RADIO DJ Jo Wiley has raised a few eyebrows after trying to flog her secondhand lights online – despite her monster pay packet.

Jo, 58, earns a whopping £230,000 a year from the BBC to host the airwaves on Radio 2.

But fans were left doing a double take when they noticed her trying to sell two gold and white wall lights for £300.

Jo listed her cast offs on Instagram and told fans she was getting rid of them following a “bathroom upgrade”.

The mum-of-four was then left backtracking after being mocked by her army of followers.

Red-faced Jo even compared herself to Del Boy – played by Sir David Jason – from the iconic sitcom Only Fools and Horses.

“Retail at £280 each. Selling these for £300 for the pair.”

Taking it in good spirit, however, Jo has since deleted the ad for her lights and compared herself to Del Boy.

Alongside a snap of the cockney trader, she wrote: “No… I wasn’t hacked.

“I really shouldn’t be allowed on social media. My kids are going to have a field day with this one!”

Jo also posted several ‘crying with laughter’ emojis.

Sports presenter Gary Lineker is the highest earning star at the BBC, taking home a staggering £1.35million a year.

Jo’s Radio 2 colleague, Zoe Ball, is next in line. She net £980,000 between 2022 and 2023.

Jo sits in 35th position, although she has seen her pay decrease over the past three years.
