‘Blubbering wreck’ Victoria Mary Clarke shares sweet video of late husband Shane MacGowan ahead of Valentine’s Day

VICTORIA Mary Clarke has said she is a “blubbering wreck” as she shared an unseen video of her late husband.

The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan died on November 30 last, after an eight-year-long health battle.

Shane’s heartbroken wife is about to go through her first Valentine’s Day without him, and has shared an adorable video of the late rockstar.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Victoria shared a minute-long video of Shane singing.

In the caption of the post, she wrote: “I feel like an absolute blubbering wreck today and it’s not even Valentine’s yet!”

Shane can be seen sitting down looking at the camera.

He starts singing, with the lyrics saying: “Victoria is the best.”

He repeats her name multiple times throughout the short song.

Concluding the video he said: “The streets were ringing with that in 1969.”

In response, Victoria said: “Aw, that’s nice I like that”, as he looked up at her and smiled.

Shane had been receiving treatment for viral encephalitis – a serious condition which leads to brain swelling.

Devastated Victoria Mary confirmed he died at 3am on November 30 and paid emotional tribute to her “beautiful angel”.

‘Measure of my dreams’

She said: “I don’t know how to say this so I am just going to say it.

“Shane who will always be the light that I hold before me and the measure of my dreams and the love of my life and the most beautiful soul and beautiful angel and the sun and the moon and the start and end of everything that I hold dear has gone to be with Jesus and Mary and his beautiful mother Therese.

“I am blessed beyond words to have met him and to have loved him and to have been so endlessly and unconditionally loved by him and to have had so many years of life and love and joy and fun and laughter and so many adventures.

“There’s no way to describe the loss that I am feeling and the longing for just one more of his smiles that lit up my world.

“Thank you thank you thank you thank you for your presence in this world you made it so very bright and you gave so much joy to so many people with your heart and soul and your music.

“You will live in my heart forever. Rave on in the garden all wet with rain that you loved so much. You meant the world to me.”

He had been rushed to hospital as his wife Victoria Mary Clarke stayed by his side.

The singer remained in good spirits throughout his treatment, which included being put on a breathing apparatus, and was sent home.
