TV presenter and actress Annabel Giles has died after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in July.
At the age of 64, Annabel, who had previously participated in an ITV series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, passed away quietly at Martlets Hospice in Hove yesterday.
Annabel only married once during her life – to musician and record producer Midge Ure in 1985.
Who is Midge Ure?
James “Midge” Ure is a Scottish musician, singer-songwriter and record producer.
He was born on the outskirts of Glasgow on 10 October 1953.
Midge enjoyed particular success in the 1970s and 1980s in bands including Slik, Thin Lizzy, Rich Kids and Visage, and as the second frontman of Ultravox.

The musician is perhaps best known for his 1984 collaboration with Bob Geldof to record Do They Know It’s Christmas? for Ethiopian famine relief.
Other stellar musicians including Bono, Phil Collins and Sting also added vocals as part of the charity supergroup called Band Aid.

Annabel and Midge had one child together, a daughter called Molly.
The 33-year old announced the news of her mother’s death on X, formally Twitter.

“It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our incredible mother, Annabel Giles, who passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon at Martlets Hospice in Hove,” she wrote in a poignant tribute.
“In July, Mum was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma, a fast-growing and highly aggressive malignant brain tumour.
“In the four months that followed, she displayed remarkable resilience and strength, despite undergoing brain surgery and countless radiotherapies.
“In her final weeks, she was passionate about raising awareness for Glioblastoma, embodying her lifelong commitment to helping others.
“Mum was truly one of a kind, an enigma to those privileged to share her life.
“True to her nature, she kept spirits high and maintained her quick wit until the very end.
“Her humour and laughter will leave us inspired to live life to the fullest, just as she always did.
“We thank you for your love and support and kindly request that you respect our privacy at this challenging time.
“In lieu of flowers and other gifts, we would be grateful for donations to Martles Hospie, whose exceptional care was a great source of comfort throughout this journey.”
When did Midge Ure and Annabel Giles divorce?
Annabel and Midge announced their separation in 1989 after four years of marriage.
In 2003, Midge married actress and Yoga teacher Sheridan Forbes.
The two have three daughters; Kitty, Ruby and Flossie.
Annabel never remarried, but did give birth to her son Ted with her second partner.
