I was in one of the 90s most memorable pop videos – now I’ve quit fame to be a dance school owner

A STAR of one of the most memorable pop videos of the Nineties has quit fame to be a dance school owner.

The pop single, released in 1990, rocketed to Number One in the UK Singles Chart.

It featured Annie Dunkley and Dawn Andrews – the latter of whom went on to marry Take That frontman Gary Barlow, 52, in 2000.

Theatre legend Andrew Lloyd Webber, 75, produced the chart topper – with the band name taken from one of the characters of his West End musical Cats.

Following her fame in the Nineties, Annie has retreated out of the spotlight for a low-key life.

She has a strong dance background, training at the Royal Ballet School before becoming a member of group Hot Gossip.

After performances on Top Of The Pops and a European tour with Bombalurina, she put down roots in Horsham.

There, Annie is the founder of Horsham School Of Dance, teaching ballet at the venue from 2011.

Eight years later, she was appointed principal.

The establishment’s website states: “Annie has overseen some exciting developments, and the future of HSD looks bright!”

Meanwhile her video co-star Timmy Mallett, 68, remains a telly presenter legend.

Yet he also has a very different job after 15 years off-screen.

Timmy was best known for his hit series Wacaday with his infamous companion Pinky Punky, a soft toy hammer.

However, these days Timmy – who recently became a grandad – has a completely different job.

He’s teamed up with Pension Attention to raise awareness of workers’ pension pots.

Timmy, now 67, has brought back his iconic gameshow to take contestants back to the 80s and 90s to capture the UK public’s attention so they don’t feel so “Bleugh” about their pensions.

He said: “I suspect people in their thirties often think about their pension and feel they don’t need to engage, assuming it’s something to address as you approach stopping work.

“But trust me, careers aren’t linear, and you might wake up one morning and suddenly you’re 55 and you go, crikey, what happened there? It zips along.”

Recently, we also reported how a Nineties popstar with a famous dad looks unrecognisable 24 years after a one-hit wonder.

Another rockstar from the era swapped chart hits to become a fishing instructor.

Meanwhile, one particular star can’t be recognised now after a string of music hits and TV appearances.
