Coleen explained that she fought to save her marriage “behind closed doors” – saying the “love was always there”.

She replied: “Obviously in the title it’s my account, I’ve had time to sit down and process it all and I want to tell my truth and also let people know who I am and the reasons behind my actions and thoughts.

“Obviously the relationship with Wayne has been hard over the years but there has always been love there, so why give up on it if the love is still there, why not see if you can work it out.

“People haven’t seen this part of it because we’ve done it behind closed doors.

“It’s been a battle at times, it’s been hard.

“People only see what’s in the press, they don’t know what goes on in our life.

“So it’s nice to explain this is what happened.

“It was out there, we dealt with it, we’re moving on.”

Craig then added: “It can be fixed. It’s a great message for people out there,” to which Coleen responded: “It can be fixed.”

It comes after Coleen revealed that she had “screaming matches” with her spouse after she learned about his infidelity when he slept with Gina McCarrick, then 37, at a £45-a-go brothel in Liverpool.

Writing in her autobiography, Coleen recalled the painful moment that he confessed to cheating.

In an extract in the Mail, she wrote: “The full story was that when he was sixteen, Wayne had visited prostitutes in a Liverpool massage parlour.

“When Wayne sat me down and told me it was true and that the story was about to break in the national press I was confused and hurt. I couldn’t even speak to him.

“More than that, I felt ashamed.”

Coleen revealed how she battled to save her marriage behind closed doors.

She continued: “Everyone knew, and everyone seemed to have an opinion. I sat with it all swirling around me like some horrible dream, unable to decide what was best or what I wanted.

“A voice inside me told me not to do anything rash and not to make a decision in the midst of my anger.

“Dealing with that kind of thing was heart-breaking enough, but I was eighteen –years-old. I was upset and confused, not knowing what to think or how others might react.”

Coleen said that she wasn’t ready to throw the towel in and gave him another chance after he admitted he was “devastated” the way he had acted.

The star said they had “a few screaming matches” but accepted that they were in a “stronger place” and had grown up a lot since first meeting.

She added: “Still to this day he has it – everyone on him. Not to see what he’s doing right but to see what he’s doing wrong. It’s a shame.”
