Perfect weekend lunch spot
If you want to get the most authentic dining experience in any city, you head to the streets. Packed with bustling stalls and cooking pots brewing some of the most unique flavours, there’s no better place to enrich your palate.
Japan might be famous for sushi, but there is a lot more to it than fresh raw fish on rice. Lucky for us, we don’t have to take a 13 hour flight to sample the best and most famous dishes thanks to Netsu, located in Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai.
Celebrating the best of the street food culture, the menu has been created by acclaimed Chef Ross Shonhan. Expect a wide selection of traditional dishes, such as ramen bowls, nigiri, tempura and Wagyu katsu sando (aka the best beef sandwich you will every try) served in a modern way.
Netsu is also the largest Warayaki-style (cooking over flames) restaurant outside of Japan, and features a Kabuki-inspired setting. Since opening, it’s been hugely popular among those who love grilled meat and seafood.
Till now, the restaurant has only operated in the evenings but to meet the demand they are now offering an edited lunchtime menu with all the favourites, including Crispy duck, Charshu Wagyu or Fried Chicken Bao and Udon. Don’t leave without trying Japanese shaved ice desserts, Kakigori. Choose from a range of signature flavours and unique toppings like Ichigo Strawberry, Chocolate Banoffee and Caramel Popcorn.
Lunchtime service is a little more relaxed but we huge windows offering views of the resort, as well as an open plan kitchen and sushi counter, you definitely feel the atmosphere of a buzzing Japanese market.
