A career shift for the singer?
Last night, Lebanese singer Elissa sent fans into a frenzy when it was implied that she will be joining the cast of Netflix’s Spanish hit-series, Money Heist. The 46-year-old recently announced that her next album will be her last….so, is this a new career move for the artist?
The singer confused fans after posting a picture of a gift that she received from the streaming company. The package included one of show’s infamous Salvador Dali masks and a red card with a personalised messages, which said: “Something broke in Professor during the third season, which left you surprised. But have hope, because the fourth season will make you the happiest one [refrencing one of Elissa’s songs]. To the Queen of emotions, or now we could call you Beirut.”
What sent fans over the edge was the tweet that was associated with the image. Elissa wrote: “I am ready to be part of the gang with the professor and the team! Thank you @NetflixMENA and @lacasadepapel. Nairobi, we’re coming to save you. Love, Beirut!.” In reply to her tweet, the show’s official Twitter account said: “We’re glad to have you on our side, Beirut.” Moreover, the Netflix Mena account also replied to the singer, writing: “I’m waiting for you, Beirut! Welcome to the gang.”

It is worth noting that Álvaro Morte, who plays the role of El Profesor in the series, has confirmed that they wrapped filming of season four weeks ago. Which makes the possibility of Elissa joining the series less probable. So what could all of this mean? Well it seems like Netflix decided to send a gift to the singer, after she expressed her love for the series on Twitter, saying that she was currently binging the show’s third season.
