In celebration of her 32nd birthday, Grammy award-winner and all-round amazing human Adele broke her silence on Instagram after five months, posting a photo of herself in a black mini dress.
The singer thanked all her fans for the “birthday love” and sent her well-wishes to everyone during “this crazy time”. She also thanked “all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe”.
However, what the 32-year-old probably won’t have anticipated is the huge body image debate the photo, and the comments surrounding her photo, has sparked.
While many flocked to the comments congratulating the singer on her weight loss — she’s rumoured to have lost around 45kg — others have expressed greatly different views.
Adele became a trending topic on Twitter on Wednesday, where many flocked to criticize those who where praising the star for her slimmer frame and her “glow-up”.
Many pointed out the singer looked great both before and after her weight loss, which is 100 per cent true.

There’s no old Adele, there’s no new Adele, there’s just Adele!
As long as she’s happy with her physical transformation, that’s all that matters.
Losing weight is an arduous journey, it’s not easy, but if it does make people feel good, we should support them. https://t.co/tME3kKVbrF

However, many argued that while, of course, she’s always been beautiful whatever size, but it is an “incredible achievement” to lose weight, and should also be celebrated.
Way to go! That’s such an accomplishment. 👍🏼 Losing weight and getting healthy requires lifestyle changes and discipline. It’s certainly not as easy to take it off as it is to put it on. You should be so proud! Keep up the good work. You’ll get where you want to be. 😎❤️

Damn im all for body positivity but its okay to say adele looks great. Its something she’s obviously worked hard for and that hard work should be congratulated its not about weight its about the achievement of a goal she’s obviously set for herself and it happy with.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters is Adele’s happiness, and as long as the iconic singer is happy (and brings out new music ASAP!), we’re happy.
