#Dubai on TikTok garners the most views globally, new study finds

    Lifestyle

    by Olivia Morris

Those who reside in Dubai know it’s a remarkable city, but it appears the whole world knows it, too.
According to a new TikTok study, videos using the hashtag ‘Dubai’ will garner the most views on the popular social media app.
In research conducted by Bounce, a luggage storage company, it found that Dubai topped the list of the most sought-after destinations on TikTok beating the likes of global hubs including New York City and London.
Overall, it was found that #Dubai accumulated 81.8 billion views on the video sharing app, meanwhile, New York City had 59.5 billion views and London 36.8 billion views.
Bounce said in a statement that “Dubai has become one of the most sought-after destinations for holidaymakers who want to soak up the sun in style”.
“This ultra-modern city is home to some of the world’s most astounding architecture, such as the tallest building on Earth, the Burj Khalifa,” they added.
While for the last two years the travel and tourism industry has been turned on its head, the UAE and Dubai has weathered the storm well, with tourist statistics returning to pre-pandemic numbers this year.
From January to May 2022, Dubai welcomed over 6.17 million overnight visitors and this is surely only set to grow as we head into the cooler months in the latter of 2022.
So, if you’re thinking about booking a trip to Dubai or you already reside here, make sure you hashtag Dubai when documenting your trip on TikTok.

The UAE retains its highest-ever ranking on world’s most powerful passport list

The UAE has retained its highest-ever ranking on the world’s most powerful passport list.
The Henley Passport Index recently published its 2022 findings, outlining the strongest passports worldwide. The findings are based on the number of destinations the passport holder can travel to visa-free.
In the report, the UAE was declared a “pandemic winner” with the nation continuing to go from strength to strength despite the “turmoil” COVID-19 had caused globally. The nation’s passport received the number 15 ranking last year and has managed to retain its spot in 2022.
“Throughout the turmoil of the past two years, one thing has remained constant: the growing strength of the UAE passport, which now sits at 15th place on the ranking, with a visa-free or visa-on-arrival score of 176,” the report states.
“Over the past decade, the country has made unparalleled gains as the biggest climber on the index — in 2012, it sat at 64th place on the rankings, with a score of just 106.”
The report has also concluded the UAE has the strongest passport in the GCC and the entire Arab region.
Just 10 years ago, the UAE’s passport ranked number 64 overall and has now jumped 49 places.

The Real Housewives of Dubai: Stars respond to criticism surrounding the show

    Lifestyle

    by Sarah Joseph

After months of anticipation, The Real Housewives of Dubai officially premiered back in June.
Starring six Dubai-based women – Caroline Stanbury; beauty entrepreneur Caroline Brooks; lifestyle content creator Nina Ali; Dubai’s first black supermodel Chanel Ayan; fashion designer Lesa Milan; and Emirati-Bahraini entrepreneur Sara Al Madani – the reality show explores their lives in the emirate, growing businesses, romantic lives and catty drama.
While there were many fans eagerly awaiting the first international rendition of the franchise produced by Bravo, the show has sparked a slew of controversy, with many criticising it saying it “does not represent Dubai”.
However, now the show has been on the air for over six weeks, two of the show’s main protagonists, Sara Al Madani and Nina Ali, responded to the backlash in an exclusive interview with Emirates Woman, clarifying exactly what The Real Housewives of Dubai is meant to represent.

Al Madani believes a lot of the initial criticism came from many not understanding the show’s roots. “A lot of people didn’t understand that this is a franchise name, while another group of people thought how this is a representation of how women are a housewife in Dubai,” she said, adding that’s she’s never claimed to be representing anyone else but herself.
“There are numerous shades of the rainbow and similarly different types of Emirati women, hence, I cannot represent them or my country, I am simply representing myself,” she continued.
However, despite the controversy, Al Madani does hope she can empower other women to “break the mould”.
“I want women not to be controlled of what others would think of them, or seek validation or meet their expectation from others,” she said. “I want to break the mould for a woman to be anything and everything she wants.”

Meanwhile, Ali echoed a similar sentiment as her co-star when it came to the show’s critics, highlighting some may have simply taken the name the ‘Real Housewives’ too literally. Ali socially known as Lipstick Mommy on Instagram, referred to herself as a ‘Bravo-holic’ as she first started watching the franchise in 2006, thereby starring on the show.
“This title simply comes from a franchise that has been around for over 18 years,” she said. “It’s not a show portraying the typical housewife that sits at home and cooks, it’s about women that run their own businesses.”
After being on the air for a few weeks now, Ali believes people are now beginning to “understand” what the show is actually about.
“It represents Dubai being a melting pot of cultures,” she said. “Overall, it’s a fun reality entertainment show, it’s now a documentary.”
The Real Housewives of Dubai is currently streaming on OSN.

7 Habits of Women Who Always Have a Healthy Libido

Just like exercising to stay in shape or maintaining a meditation practice for your mental health, establishing habits to get your libido in check doesn’t necessarily happen overnight. Sometimes it takes work. It’s important to keep in mind that every part of your body goes through phases over time—even our libidos. And while we would all love a healthy libido 24/7, sometimes our sex drives are going full speed ahead, and other times, they’re at a standstill. If you’re going through a phase where you just can’t get in the mood, know you are not alone and there are ways to get out of it. Everyone deserves to enjoy sex and look forward to it. Read on for seven habits women use to keep their libido healthy.

    1. Prioritize your alone time
Self-care can apply to many different areas, including your libido. Spending time on your own allows you to reconnect with your body and check in on your mental well-being. Our bodies are interconnected organisms, and if we are stressed, it can often result in more than just symptoms of tiredness or irritability; it can manifest in physical pain (sore back, anyone?) or even low libido. Taking time for self-care—whether it be through exercise, meditation, journaling, a nice bath at the end of the day, or cooking a meal you love—is so important. It’s a mental break we all need to reset and feel more grounded and connected, especially when the outside world can feel overwhelming.

    2. Try something new
There’s no better way to stimulate libido than by trying something new. Maybe you and your partner have hit a rough patch and can’t connect like you used to, or maybe you’re single and your vibrator is starting to collect dust in your drawer. There’s no shame in either, but switching it up may be exactly what you need to break the spell. If you’re into solo sex, invest in a new sex toy, experiment with different porn, or set aside a night where you take a bath, light some candles, and indulge in pleasuring yourself.
If you are looking to boost sex with a partner, try choosing at least one night a week. Scheduling sex may sound uncomfortable, but it may be the thing to get you both out of a rut. You can also try bringing a sex toy into the bedroom, an aphrodisiac, or watching porn together. The best part? Whatever you choose, it can not only increase your libido but also build a stronger and healthier relationship. P.S. Don’t just stop at one—continue to try new things to keep your libido healthy.

    3. Figure out what you like and dislike
Part of maintaining a healthy libido is knowing what you like and dislike (AKA what pleasures you or turns you on versus what doesn’t), but it’s OK if you’re still figuring that out—that’s part of the fun in experimentation. Perhaps you could try a new position and role-playing or lean into pleasure that may have felt shameful in the past. Try to vocalize what gets you going and what you could do without. Discovering what you like and dislike means throwing out the narrative you may have learned about what women should like and shouldn’t like about sex. You are allowed to enjoy whatever you like, and no one should tell you otherwise. It’s your body and your libido, so you get to call the shots.

    4. Build strong trust and communication with your partner
Whether you’re looking to improve intimacy in your relationship or you’re getting down and dirty with a FWB or casual hookup, you need to feel safe and secure in order to feel vulnerable enough to share your desires. If you feel like you’re lacking something, then it could be time to start an open dialogue with your partner about your needs. Start by planning a check-in or date night where you feel comfortable vocalizing your feelings and come to the table open and ready to share and listen. If you’re in a relationship, remember that your physical relationship can only be as strong as its emotional counterpart. And if you’re not in a LTR, you deserve to feel safe enough to communicate with anyone who’s lucky enough to be with you.

    5. Exercise regularly
It should come as no surprise that those who exercise regularly are more likely to have a healthy libido. While working out has a plethora of benefits, the endorphins it releases and the effect it has on how we view our bodies directly impact our libidos. Studies have shown that there is “an association between body mass, a negative body image, and the avoidance of sexual situations.” In other words, if we want to feel confident in the bedroom and increase our libido, exercising on the regular and prioritizing our bodies is how we get there.

    6. Take the pressure off
It goes without saying that women are under a lot of societal pressure. The pressure placed on women to fit into a certain box is prevalent, and I am here to tell you that it’s time to take the pressure off. We’re all wonderfully different, even when it comes to our libidos. Some people naturally have a higher sex drive than others, and that’s OK. Let go of any limiting beliefs surrounding your sexual well-being, and just listen to your body and enjoy sex on your own terms.

    7. Talk to your doctor
The health of your libido deserves the same attention as any other medical concern you may have. And while your sex drive could improve with the aforementioned habits, there may be underlying factors that require further examination. Aside from mental blocks, including medications, physical changes, and hormonal changes, there are many other factors that can contribute to low libido. If you have a consistently low sex drive, it may be time to talk to your doctor. Maintain regular check-ups with your gynecologist, and prioritize your sexual health as you would any other part of your body.

Inside Natalia Shustova’s Mykonos-inspired Dubai home

    Lifestyle

    by Amy Sessions

Natalia Shustova, founder of GOSHÁ, invites us inside her Mykonos-inspired Dubai home.
How long have you lived/worked in this space?
We moved into our villa (no.38 as we prefer to call it) in August 2020. It took us 48 days to totally renovate it.
Did you have a clear concept from the outset and which key pieces are your favourite?
We never had a mood board or concept for no.38… we wanted to create a very dreamy place reminding us of our favourite travels, something with a bit of nostalgia and artistic references in every corner. The Poltronova Ultrafragolla mirror was my dream for a long time and is still my favourite piece in our house, as well as the vintage blush Togo set. I’m also in love with our Mykonian garden – so many good nights with good friends have been spent there.

Have you custom-built any bespoke pieces?
Yes, we indeed designed unique pieces for our home; our dining and coffee tables, two bespoke mirrors, the state-of-the-art bed in our guest bedroom – are my favourite. Each piece is original and that makes them special.
How do you think your interior reflects you/ your brand?
Being unique and original in everything I do reflects perfectly in our interiors. I also live in/with art, so the house has artistic expressions all over it.
Describe your taste in three words.
Eclectic, sophisticated, inspired by art/cinema and poetry as well as nature.

‘Love is patient, 20 years patient’: JLo’s beautiful words about Ben Affleck

    Lifestyle

    by Team Emirates Woman

Two decades ago, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were the golden couple of Hollywood.
Dubbed ‘Bennifer’ by the press, the world was enamoured by their love story. However, it wasn’t one that was meant to be – or so we thought.
The couple were set to wed on September 14, 2003, however, their impending marriage was postponed to what was cited at the time as “excessive media attention”. Four months later, in January 2004, Bennifer had called it quits.
However, little did everyone know this wouldn’t be the final chapter in Bennifer’s love story.
    Image: On The JLo
Much to the surprise of many, JLo and Affleck rekindled their romance in April 2021, becoming engaged for the second time the following April. And now, the couple have officially made it down the aisle, nearly 20 years after their first nuptials were due to take place.
Announcing the union to her fans, JLo shared some beautiful words to depict her love and marriage to Affleck.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” she said.
Finally getting their ‘happily ever after’ together after 20 years, the couple wed in Las Vegas over the weekend at the A Little White Wedding Chapel, which is “exactly what we wanted”, JLo explained.
Waiting in line with four other couples, the pair were ready “for the world to recognize us as partners and declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage”.

“When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is one another and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and good to one another,” she told her fans in her newsletter. “We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives.”
She continued: “They were right when they said, ‘all you need is love’. We are so grateful to have that in abundance, a new wonderful family of five amazing children and a life that we have never had more reason to look forward to.”
The singer signed off her letter saying, “Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things – and worth waiting for. With love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
