    Dr. Eng. Suaad Al Shamsi, a name synonymous with aviation engineering in the UAE, has carved a unique path in a field traditionally dominated by men. As the first Emirati woman to embark on this career, she has not only defied societal expectations but has also become a beacon of inspiration for countless young women aspiring to pursue their dreams in STEM.
    On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day 2024, we invited four inspiring women, pioneers in their fields of expertise to share their remarkable journeys.
    When asked who does she seek inspiration from, Suaad shared, “To me, HH Fatima bint Mubarak, the mother of UAE is my ultimate inspiration. Besides her, my own mother, teachers, and women I see everyday, Emirati or otherwise also inspire me.”
    Al Shamsi’s impact extends far beyond her professional achievements. As a founding member of the Women in Aviation organization’s Middle East chapter and the CEO of L2L (learn to live), she actively mentors and empowers other women to pursue their aspirations. Her consultancy work, coupled with her teaching role at a UAE university, provides invaluable guidance and support to aspiring engineers.

    Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Al Shamsi’s love for aviation is evident in her research and advisory role at the new Midfield Terminal at Abu Dhabi Airport. Her dedication to the industry is further exemplified by her passion for writing novels, a creative outlet that allows her to share her experiences and inspire others.
    A key figure in the Women in Aviation group, Al Shamsi’s empowering words have encouraged countless women to enter the field of aviation. Her story serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, determination, and a passion for one’s craft.     At 26 years old, Marwa AlHashmi has established herself in the industry through her multi-disciplinary portfolio. As an endurance horse rider, part-time model, TV presenter and actress, she’s on her path to achieving her goals.
    On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day 2024, we invited four inspiring women, pioneers in their fields of expertise to share their remarkable journeys.
    With Her Highness Sheikha Fatma bint Mubarak playing a key role as her inspiration, atheletes like herself have been championed in the industry.
    “For endurance horse riders there’s also a race by her name, the Sheikha Fatma bint Mubarak race, overall, she is the meaning of a powerful Emirati woman,” Alhashmi shares.
    Whilst narrating her journey, she elaborated on how young Emirati women need faliure in order to succeed. “The UAE has given young women the platform to flourish and hence they have to use that to their advantage.”

    While not being afraid to seize the opportunities, she still has a lot more to accomplish at a young age and has a goal of being internationally recogised as a media personality.
    When it comes to success, Alhashmi has finished a 160km race despite her health conditions, she has completed it twice, sharing this as a proud moment.

    Known for setting new standards in the culinary world, Chef Sahar Parham Al Awadhi is the first Emirati Pastry Chef in the UAE.
    On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day 2024, we invited four inspiring women, pioneers in their fields of expertise to share their remarkable journeys.
    Regarded as MENA’s best Pastry Chef, the Emirati star is becoming a role model for pastry chefs in the region and all over the globe.
    Having previously works as a pastry chef at Burj Al Arab, her culinary skills were put to the test. Through her resilient nature, she was able to establish herself in the industry and carve a niche in the F&B industry.
    “I always wanted to be a chef, I loved making new pastries, finding new ingredients and new techniques on creating.” She also emphasized on how the learning process never stops.
    As a male dominated field, the hospitality industry is slowly steering away from its preconceived notion. Now, more than ever, Emirati women are taking the lead and Chef Sahar is one of them.

    By drawing on local recipes, Al Awadhi also seeks out the best local ingredients for her dishes. While the UAE has been dependent on importation in the past, she explains how this food culture is gradually changing.
    “Whatever it is that you do, do it wholeheartedly without taking any shortcuts and learn everything on the way,” she advises the younger generation of Emirati women in the region.
    Having completely changed her career trajectory, since she first started. With the vision of now seeing more Emirati Chefs in the industry. Through mentorship and guidance, she’s open to paving the way for many young talents to exceed in this arena.
