Dubai authorities issue guidelines for gatherings as long weekend arrives

While an extra day off from work is always welcome, Dubai authorities have issued a statement reminding the public to be mindful of COVID-19 guidelines over the long weekend.

In a statement issued via the Dubai Media Office Twitter account, the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management for the emirate outlined precautionary guidelines for social gatherings and celebrations ahead of Halloween, Diwali and other festivities.

The authority urged the public to avoid crowded places and reminded that the use of face masks and social distancing is mandatory.

It was also highlighted that those who are at heightened risk to COVID-19 – the elderly and those with chronic health conditions – “are advised not to attend social functions”.

And finally, the authority reiterated that precautionary measures must be followed in order to avoid violating the guidelines which would result in penalties.

Most of all Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management outlined that the wellbeing of the public is the “top priority”.

“The health and safety of the community is a top priority –please strictly follow preventive protocols and safeguards in place to protect all community members from any health risks,” the statement read.

Wear a mask, wash your hands, keep socially distanced and most of all stay safe!
