Keeping in line with UAE’s key principles, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched a record-breaking campaign during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Being one of the biggest food drive campaigns in the region, the mission was launched to provide 100 million meals as part of UAE’s unwavering efforts for social change, in order to combat the key challenges faced by humanity especially amid COVID-19.
This is a huge expansion from the 10 million meals campaign which was launched last year in 2020 to help those worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Organised by the UAE-based Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the campaign reflects the UAE’s humanitarian principles to aid the vulnerable across the world, regardless of race, religion or nationality, especially after the outbreak of COVID-19 exacerbated food insecurity, poverty and unemployment among underserved populations,” the campaign’s website states.
The organisation will work alongside the UN World Food Programme and other food banking networks including the Food Banking Regional Network, Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, to deliver food parcels which will be organised for underprivileged communities during the holy month of Ramadan.
