It’s a given all mums need to be spoiled on Mother’s Day.
It may be the norm for you to go out for a nice afternoon tea, spa day or dinner on Mother’s Day, but given everything that’s going on across the globe right now, we’ve put together a handy guide with some fantastic things you can do to celebrate the special day in the comfort of your own home.
So, you can quite literally sit back and relax with your mum — or with your family if you’re the mum of the house — and enjoy some fabulous treats from the couch.
Breakfast in bed
Treat your mum to the best breakfast in bed possible. If being in the kitchen isn’t your forte, but ordering from Deliveroo is then we may have just the trick for you.
Lou’Loua by Nadia’s full breakfast menu is now available on Deliveroo. All you need to do is order, wait and the door and present it nicely especially for your mum.
There’s shakshouka, french toasts and Spanish Omelettes on offer as well as homemade granola and Nadia’s signature rose crepes. Yum, yum yum.
Put together an at home spa treatment
If you’re a beauty junkie, here’s where you can put your expertise to the test and create your mum the ultimate hamper to have your very own spa day together.
Stay in your robes, put your favourite Netflix series on together, grab some snacks and give your skin a good old rejuvenation right from the comfort of the couch.
A good cleanser is a must-have for a home spa day. The Sarah Chapman Ultimate Cleanse Cleansing Balm does what it says on the packaging — the ‘ultimate cleanse’. Available at Harvey Nichols, Dubai and Apotheca Beauty in Nakheel Mall.
For toner try the Shiffa Floral Facial Toner to give you the florally scented feel of a spa, it also helps to refine and plump the skin.
Now, if you’re wanting to add a face mask step in now’s the time to do it and it’s the perfect opportunity to give your skin a boost of goodness. To soak up excess oils try the Ole Henriksen minty fresh Cold Plunge Pore Mask at Sephora. For a more hydrating mask the Tata Harper Floral Mask works a treat.
Then comes serum to give you and your mum’s skin even more of a boost. We recommend either the Clarins Double Serum Complete Age Control for a radiant glow or the Pro-Collagen Super Serum Elixir from Elemis for plumping effect and glowy skin.
Finally it’s time to lock that goodness in with a moisturiser. The classic Creme De La Mer by La Mer is a fail-safe, or for a weightless hydrating feeling on the skin go for the Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturiser.
Flower delivery service
While it may not be an activity to do at home, it’s certainly something mum can enjoy at home — flowers.
Ferns ‘n’ Petals have the option for people to sign up for one month for weekly flowers or plants delivered right to your door, or in this case your mum’s door.
There’s the option for a weekly delivery of lilies costing Dhs699; garden fresh colourful flowers for Dhs999; fragrant and lucky greens for Dhs399; or big luscious green plants for Dhs699.

See, just because you might not be going out and about this Mother’s Day doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. And regardless of gifts or not, it’s just nice to spend quality time together.
