Dubai has opened beaches, but another emirate closed theirs until further notice

A couple of weeks ago, Dubai lifted many restrictions in the emirate which included opening public beaches.

However, the emirate of Umm Al Quwain has now shut all public beaches until further notice.

Hotels with private beaches are exempt from the order, but public beaches have been closed in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, public beaches remain closed but private beaches in resorts and hotels are now permitted to open.

As for Dubai, it was announced by the Dubai Municipality over a week ago that beaches at JBR, Al Mamzar, Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim, but social distancing measures are to be taken and masks were to be worn on the beach if not in the water. If the rules are not followed, beachgoers will be fined.

Last weekend, 221 fines were handed out to those who were found breaking the precautionary rules in place for public health and safety reasons.

The penalty for not wearing a mask or following social distancing rules is Dhs3,000.
