Curfew restrictions will be reduced in Dubai from tomorrow

Movement restrictions in Dubai are set to be reduced from Wednesday May 27, 2020 – the curfew hours will change from 11pm to 6am, meaning people must stay home during these hours.

Per the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council unveiled the new plans starting this Wednesday in order for businesses to gradually reopen between the hours of 6am and 11pm.

However, despite the eagerness for life to return to normal, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted precautionary measures in place must still be adhered to in order for a smooth transition back to everyday life.

“We are aware of the pressures many sectors are facing because of the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said in a meeting he chaired with Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management committee. “We have been following the severe impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on countries around the world.

“What makes us different is our ability to deal positively with changes and our agility. We have all the elements necessary to adapt to these challenging circumstances.”

Curfew hours were recently adjusted – as were the fines in place for those caught breaking COVID-19 rules – for residents to stay home between 8pm and 6am. This curfew is still in effect until May 27.
