Another day, another example that men and women in Hollywood can just be friends friends. Earlier this week, social media was buzzing with news that Brad Pitt and American-Iraqi actress Alia Shawkat might be dating, but we hate to break it to you, they are friends.
An unexpected duo, the heartthrob actor and the actress were both photographed together around LA. As expected, news of a new coupling started swirling. This rumour started when Brad and Alia were photographed at the recent opening of the Wilding Cran Gallery’s “LA on Fire” art exhibition. One of the event’s attendees decided to share pictures of the two hanging out on Instagram – here is where the rumour began.
This wasn’t the first time that the duo seen together. reported an earlier sighting of the pair, when paparazzi spotted them leaving a performance of Ethan Coen’s in Los Angeles. Moreover, towards the end of October, fellow actor Mike Birbiglia posted a selfie on Instagram which included Brad and Alia. He captioned it: “These lucky audience members got to take a photo with me. Anything can happen in Los Angeles! 38 more shows!” While Brad smiled for the selfie, Alia appeared to be reading a show program.
Despite all the pictures and joint appearances, a source close to Brad told that the actor and Alia are “absolutely just friends.” Ever since his divorce from Angelina Jolie, Brad has been linked to countless of women, including actresses Kate Hudson, Sienna Miller and Australian model Elle Macpherson to name a few.
Alia, is best known to fans for her role as a sarcastic, unknowable teenager, Maeby Fünke on the cult TV showNow, the 30-year-old is the star of critically acclaimed satirical dark comedy series, , which she is also producing. The actress is half Arab, being born to an Iraqi father, who migrated from Baghdad to the United States when he was 21.
