Your fabulous guide to this weekend to Dubai: June 18-20

Our ultimate guide

With waterparks having recently reopened and new restaurants to check out, it’s going to be a busy weekend of food and fun.

Grab your earphones

MDLBeast is all set to return to Saudi Arabia, but not in the way you’d expect. Considering the current global crisis, the music festival will be holding a 12-hour virtual edition under the name MDLBeast Freqways this weekend.

Go vegan

Summertime calls for fresh salads and nutritious smoothies so we can feel and look our best for the rest of the year. Take advantage of your appetite for a healthier diet and check out the revamped SEVA Cafe – previously Life n’ One. Expect innovative dishes free of dairy, chemical, gluten, and additives. There is also a yoga and meditation studio, a wellbeing treatment centre, and a conscious shop to check out.

Support local

Ripe Market is heading indoors for the summer and setting up shop at Nakheel Mall, Palm Jumeirah. It will be open every Friday and Saturday from 10am to 7pm and can be found outside Depachika Food Hall on the ground floor. Whether you’re looking for some cute kids clothing, want to fill up on healthy treats, discover a unique jewellery piece or enhance your home with bohemian interior gems straight from Bali, there are plenty of home-grown brand to check out.

Taste of Japan

With lockdown rules lifted, many of hotly-anticipated new restaurants have been allowed to open. The latest dining spot you have to check out is Hanami, a chic Japanese eatery on Palm Jumeirah. Located on the high floor of Andaz the Palm, it offers views either towards Jumeirah or Dubai Marina. In the cooler months, take advantage of the outdoor terrace that opens up towards the Burj Al Arab.

Make a splash

Dubai waterparks have been given the green light to reopen and to celebrate, Atlantis Aquaventure is offering 30 to 50 per cent off entry fees. Note that your temperature will be checked on arrival and you have to keep to social distancing rules in the pool and in the sunbathing areas. Prices start at Dhs119 for adults and Dhs99 for children, and kids under 12 are permitted.

Bargain daycation deal

Jumeirah Creekside Hotel has unveiled a new daycation deal where you pay just Dhs150 during the weekend (Dhs100 during the week) and get the full amount back to spend on food and drinks. Unwind all day in the two-tiered swimming pool, while the kids can enjoy in a dedicated children’s pool.

Chopsticks at the ready
