Just after the UAE government announced the lifting of restrictions for transit flights through the country, Emirates has revealed they will now be offering flights to 29 cities departing from Dubai Airport.
There will be 16 new services added to the Dubai-based airline’s schedule and will available from June 15.
The new destinations include: Bahrain, Manchester, Zurich, Vienna, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, New York JFK, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei, Hong Kong, Perth and Brisbane. These will be available to book on the Emirates website.
“In addition, from 8th June Emirates will offer flights from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad for travellers from Pakistan who wish to connect onwards to other Emirates destinations,” the airline’s announcement stated.

Those who intend to travel have been reminded by the airline of the travel restrictions which are currently in place, explaining that “travellers will only be accepted on flights if they comply with the eligibility and entry criteria requirements of their destination countries”.
This comes after Emirates recommenced scheduled flights to limited destinations including London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid, Milan, Toronto, Chicago, Sydney and Melbourne last month.
UAE residents returning to country
With that, there’s also many UAE residents keen to return after being stranded abroad, or in their home countries, for months due to the COVID-19 which has essentially halted the majority of air travel around the globe.
As of June 1, UAE residents are now allowed to return to the country which was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) last month.
However, all residents must receive approval in the form of an entry permit from MoFAIC and the ICA.
In order to apply, foreign nationals who hold a valid residency visa for the UAE should register for the ‘Residents’ Entry Permit’ on this website: smartservices.ica.gov.ae.
For those entering the country there are stringent precautions being taken, which have been previously outlined by Dubai-based airline Emirates.
“Stringent entry restrictions remain in place upon arrival in Dubai which includes: a mandatory DHA test on arrival; a mandatory 14-day quarantine and a follow up test before release,” the statement said.
