With recoveries outnumbering new cases, Dubai is ‘on track’ to beat COVID-19

While it’s been a long few months in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems things in Dubai are finally on the up.

According to a new report published by state news agency , with recovery cases on the rise and new cases declining the emirate is on track to overcome the virus.

The head of the coronavirus Command and Control Centre, Dr. Amer Ahmad Sharif, has even said that a number of hospitals in Dubai are free of any COVID-19 cases, with many resuming regular treatment services due to capacity no longer being under pressure.

“The rate of infections in the last three weeks has fallen considerably while the rate of recoveries has increased,” Dr. Sharif said. “The number of cases requiring hospitalisation also saw a decline.”

Due to all of this Dr. Sharif claimed, “Dubai is moving steadily towards overcoming the pandemic.”

He attributed the success to the strategic and stringent plans put in place by the government, and the commitment to the public to adhere to the measures in place.

However, Dr. Sharif also highlighted these measures still need to be followed which includes social distancing, wearing masks, regularly washing hands and more.

Regardless, it’s promising to hear some positive news when it comes to the pandemic, which has affected the entire globe for the past three months.
