Sheikh Mohammed praises frontline UAE nurse working 12 hour days

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has regularly been praising those on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UAE, thanking them for the sacrifices and hard work they are doing to keep the nation safe.

Sharing a video with his 10 million Twitter followers, His Highness singled out an Emirati nurse on the frontline during the pandemic, applauding her efforts.

In the video, Asma Al Shehi shares her inspirational story of how she’s working 12 hour days, caring for patients whilst also juggling family life with a baby.

Along with the video His Highness said, “Greetings and salutations to the heroes of the country.”

Earlier this week, hosting a virtual meeting of the UAE cabinet, His Highness talked with a number of medical staff members who were treating patients suffering from the novel coronavirus saying they would “go down in history”.

“Your stance and actions will go down in the annals of history and be passed on to generations to come,” he said. “You are our heroes and strongest bastions, and the UAE’s protective shield.”

The praise is certainly warranted, as the UAE’s response to the pandemic has ranked in the top 10 countries in the world.

A new system created by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants in Australia has been established to measure a the effectiveness of a country’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The system has been labelled the ‘Global Response to Infectious Diseases’ (GRID) index, evaluated the efficiency of a country’s government, as well as how established a nation’s health system was in order to be able to handle the outbreak.

New Zealand ranked top of the list, followed by Singapore, Iceland, Australia, Finland, Norway, Canada, South Korea, Hong Kong and then the UAE rounding off the top 10.
