Clarification has been issued on UAE residents returning to the country

A clarification has been issued regarding the confirmation UAE residents will be able to return to the country on June 1.

On Monday, it was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) and the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship (ICA) entry permits would be granted for those who were currently out of the country in order to “to reunite [them] with their families who were affected by the precautionary measures taken”.

However, it has been clarified that “anyone holding a valid or recently expired UAE residency visa can apply for an entry permit”, an ICA official confirmed to .

The original statement about residents returning appeared to pertain to those who had relatives in the country, but it has now been confirmed it also extends to individuals.

In order to apply, foreign nationals who hold a valid residency visa for the UAE should register for the ‘Residents’ Entry Permit’ on this website: smartservices.ica.gov.ae.

For those entering the country there are stringent precautions being taken, which have been previously outlined by Dubai-based airline Emirates.

“Stringent entry restrictions remain in place upon arrival in Dubai which includes: a mandatory DHA test on arrival; a mandatory 14-day quarantine and a follow up test before release,” the statement said.
