      Aman partners with Novak Djokovic for global wellness initiatives

      Aman, renowned for its luxurious wellness retreats, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with tennis legend Novak Djokovic. The world’s foremost tennis champion will serve as Aman’s first Global Wellness Advisor, bringing his decades of experience and expertise to enhance the brand’s holistic wellness offerings.
      As part of the multi-year partnership, Djokovic will collaborate with Aman to develop exclusive wellness programs and events inspired by his mental and physical well-being. His insights will also contribute to the development of new Aman Essentials products, focusing on enhancing guest wellness.
      Djokovic, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, has consistently demonstrated his unwavering commitment to excellence and resilience. His journey extends far beyond tennis, as he is known for his dedication to fitness, innovative training techniques, and strategic play. Most recently, he achieved a career “Golden Slam” by winning the Olympic Gold Medal at the Paris 2024 Games.

      The partnership with Aman will see Djokovic actively involved in various initiatives across the brand’s properties, including special events for Aman Club and Residence owners, annual wellness retreats, and curated programs for guests year-round.
      “To remain competitive at the highest level, over an extended time period, demands far more than skill,” shared Djokovic. “Over the years, I have cultivated a comprehensive daily wellness routine, combining mental health, nutrition, and fitness, that has enabled me to achieve sustained success both on the global stage and in my personal life. Sharing those learnings with Aman guests will be both a privilege and a pleasure.”

      The partnership with Djokovic follows the successful appointment of Maria Sharapova as an Aman Global Wellness Ambassador in 2023. Sharapova is set to host a Building Resilience retreat at Amanzoe in Greece in September and has also curated a Strength and Recovery program available at Aman New York.
      As Aman continues to expand its wellness offerings, the partnership with Djokovic marks a significant milestone in the brand’s commitment to providing guests with exceptional experiences that promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

      Four women, four incredible stories.
      On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day 2024, we invited four inspiring women, pioneers in their fields of expertise to share their remarkable journeys.
      This year, we championed Sahar Al Rasti who has etched her name into maritime history as the first Emirati woman to captain a ship for Abu Dhabi Maritime Services Company. Her journey, marked by dedication and perseverance, has shattered gender stereotypes and paved the way for future generations of Emirati women in the maritime industry.
      Then, Dr. Eng. Suaad Al Shamsi, a name synonymous with aviation engineering in the UAE, has carved a unique path in a field traditionally dominated by men. As the first Emirati woman to embark on this career, she has not only defied societal expectations but has also become a beacon of inspiration for countless young women aspiring to pursue their dreams in STEM.

      Also, known for setting new standards in the culinary world, Chef Sahar Parham Al Awadhi is the first Emirati Pastry Chef in the UAE.
      Finally, at 26 years old, Marwa AlHashmi has established herself in the industry through her multi-disciplinary portfolio. As an endurance horse rider, part-time model, TV presenter and actress, she’s on her path to achieving her goals.
      Why does it fall on the 28th of August every year?
      The date of August 28th holds historical significance as it marks the founding of the UAE’s General Women’s Union in 1975. This institution has played a pivotal role in advocating for the rights and empowerment of Emirati women.

      Sahar Al Rasti has etched her name into maritime history as the first Emirati woman to captain a ship for Abu Dhabi Maritime Services Company. Her journey, marked by dedication and perseverance, has shattered gender stereotypes and paved the way for future generations of Emirati women in the maritime industry.
      On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day 2024, we invited four inspiring women, pioneers in their fields of expertise to share their remarkable journeys.
      Al Rasti’s passion for the sea ignited in 2015 when she began working as an administrative assistant in Abu Dhabi’s ports. Her curiosity and drive led her to transition into the role of shipping services coordinator, becoming the first Emirati woman to hold this position. Determined to further her maritime career, she successfully completed the qualification program for captains of ships under 24 meters, accumulating over 1300 sailing hours within six months.

      “Dream big, alway believe in your passion and don’t be afraid to fail.”  This is the cornerstone of Al Rasti’s advice for young Emirati women, especially with the infrastructure and opportunities that come with being a citizen of this great nation.
      Her achievements extend beyond her captaincy. Al Rasti is also the first Emirati woman to pass the International Law Course on Maritime Aid and Maneuvers Levels I and II in the Middle East. This accomplishment underscores her commitment to professional development and her deep understanding of maritime regulations.
      Al Rasti envisions establishing a factory for ship maintenance, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and desire to contribute to the industry’s growth. Additionally, she aims to provide training opportunities for UAE nationals, fostering a new generation of skilled maritime professionals.
      “The maritime field is brimming with opportunities and it is the perfect time to make a career in this profession,” shared Al Rasti when asked about sharing her wisdom those wanting to be a part of this challenging yet exciting industry.
      Al Rasti’s journey has been marked by challenges, including long hours, demanding conditions, and initial opposition from her family. However, her unwavering belief in herself and her father’s unwavering support have propelled her forward. She encourages other women to consider a career in the maritime industry, emphasizing that while it may be challenging, the rewards are immense for those who are passionate about the sea.

      Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Al Maktoum

      Our cover star of November’s – ‘The Fine Jewellery Issue’, Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Al Maktoum is inspiring the new generation of incredible women have risen to great heights in the aviation industry.
      “I’m most proud of becoming the first Emirati woman to join the Dubai Police as a helicopter pilot,” she told EW of her proudest moment. “Serving my country by doing what I love doing most is simply the best feeling, and I am deeply grateful for it.”
      Her Highness Sheikha Latifah Al Maktoum

      As a truly powerful and inspirational figure, Her Highness – who graced the cover of EW’s September’s – ‘The Power Issue’ – knows exactly how to keep her mind in champion mode. Sheikha Latifah has spearheaded sports for women in the UAE. She’s an equestrian athlete who competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, becoming the first woman to represent the UAE at the Olympic games.

      Amna al Haddad has defied stereotypes by becoming a positive figurehead for women in the region.       She is the first female film director-producer in the UAE, while also being the CEO of Nayla Al Khaja films.       As the founder of the Hundred Wellness Centre, Asma Hilal Lootah is paving the way in the wellness space in the UAE. The Hundred is the first fully certified health clinic and wellness centre, which opened in 2008, and now champions wellness in the mind, body and soul for all around the UAE.

      When asked who does she seek inspiration from, Suaad shared, “To me, HH Fatima bint Mubarak, the mother of UAE is my ultimate inspiration. Besides her, my own mother, teachers, and women I see everyday, Emirati or otherwise also inspire me.”
      Al Shamsi’s impact extends far beyond her professional achievements. As a founding member of the Women in Aviation organization’s Middle East chapter and the CEO of L2L (learn to live), she actively mentors and empowers other women to pursue their aspirations. Her consultancy work, coupled with her teaching role at a UAE university, provides invaluable guidance and support to aspiring engineers.

      Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Al Shamsi’s love for aviation is evident in her research and advisory role at the new Midfield Terminal at Abu Dhabi Airport.       A key figure in the Women in Aviation group, Al Shamsi’s empowering words have encouraged countless women to enter the field of aviation.       With Her Highness Sheikha Fatma bint Mubarak playing a key role as her inspiration, atheletes like herself have been championed in the industry.
      “For endurance horse riders there’s also a race by her name, the Sheikha Fatma bint Mubarak race, overall, she is the meaning of a powerful Emirati woman,” Alhashmi shares.
      Whilst narrating her journey, she elaborated on how young Emirati women need faliure in order to succeed. “The UAE has given young women the platform to flourish and hence they have to use that to their advantage.”

      While not being afraid to seize the opportunities, she still has a lot more to accomplish at a young age and has a goal of being internationally recogised as a media personality.
      When it comes to success, Alhashmi has finished a 160km race despite her health conditions, she has completed it twice, sharing this as a proud moment.
