The rules for travelling out of the UAE have been clarified, and you can only travel for specific reasons.
With the recent announcement travel would be permitted for UAE residents and citizens, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has clarified a list of approved reasons to leave the country.
Permission to travel will only be granted for the following reasons: for a diplomatic mission, official government business, business travel, private sector business trips, medical treatment, to study or to return to your home country to visit and then return to the UAE.
However, travel for leisure or tourism out of the UAE is not permitted until further notice.

Discussing the restrictions in place, Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, the official spokesperson for NCEMA, explained the travel from the region would be “updated and based on the monitored variables”.
“We are at a critical stage, which requires everyone’s commitment and cooperation and the travel requirements will be updated and based on the monitored variables,” he said. “We are working with all international airlines to ensure travel protocols adhere to the specific requirements on the departure and here in the UAE.”
In order to gain permission to travel for any of the listed reasons, citizens and residents must submit their ID number, residency number and passport details. If you are travelling for business reasons a letter from your employer is required.
When returning to the UAE, a health declaration form must be completed as well as a PCR test. All those who have been out of the country will be required to quarantine until they receive a negative test for COVID-19.
