Rapper Kanye West has announced he intends to run for President of the United States.
Taking to Twitter to announce his bid the 43-year-old said, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.”
Interestingly, one of the first people to weigh in on West’s declaration was Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who stated the soon-to-be candidate had his “full support”.

Next to weigh in, albeit without stating any specific words on the matter, was West’s wife Kim Kardashian.
She re-tweeted her husband’s message with the American flag emoji, and also shared his post on Instagram.

However, this bodes the question: could Kim Kardashian become the First Lady of the United States?
The reality star herself has recently become involved with politics whilst studying to be a lawyer, taking a particular interest in helping those who have been falsely incarcerated.
While Kardashian appears to have shown support for her husband’s apparent bid for president, the makeup mogul has previously shared her fears about becoming First Lady.
West first announced he intended to run for office in 2015 at the MTV Music Video Awards. The following year in an interview with magazine, the 39-year-old expressed fears that her past could be used against her like it was done with Melania Trump.
As for which party he would be running for, Kardashian said in the same interview she didn’t want to specifically state which side he would be on.
“I don’t wanna put words in his mouth, but I’m pretty sure the Democrats,” she said. “Maybe independent? I don’t know how serious he is about it. We’ll see…”
