Now, seven months on from when stringent restrictions were placed in Dubai, it’s been announced by the emirate’s Supreme Committee of Crisis & Disaster Management that social events and weddings will be allowed from October 22.In a statement issued via the Dubai Media Office, it was stated that “wedding receptions will be allowed to resume in hotels, halls, homes, temporary venues, and tents in residential areas effective from 22 October 2020”.
“The decision enables the community to celebrate social occasions in an environment where precautionary measures are strictly implemented, and high levels of safety are maintained,” the statement added. The decision enables the community to celebrate social occasions in an environment where precautionary measures are strictly implemented, and high levels of safety are maintained.
— Dubai Media Office (@DXBMediaOffice) October 18, 2020Of course, as with any restrictions easing, there are still guidelines in place in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
It’s been stated that no more than 200 people can attend a wedding or social event in a public place and homes can accommodate a maximum of 30 people. This is also subject to compliance with the rule of one person per four square metres of venue space.
In addition, like in restaurants and bars around the emirate, all attendees must wear face masks unless seated at tables.
Social distancing measures of 1.5 metres must also be adhered to, as well as no physical greetings.
Other guidelines in place also state there must be no more than five guests on one table; tables should be placed at least two metres apart; and the maximum duration of the event should not exceed four hours.
