The Scots musicians are famed for a string of hits and will release their latest album Meltdown next month.

But earlier this year frontman Sam, 36, quit Glasgow’s Southside for a new life with his family across the pond.

He told the Scottish Sun: “I moved to Canada as my wife is from here, she lived in Scotland for 10 years because of me.

“We’ve got two little girls – it’s so much better for the family situation

“Canada is potentially a permanent set-up for me – that’s the idea.

“I’ve not really had the chance to be homesick because people who need to make this kind of move don’t have that option.

“I feel really, really lucky that I’ve got the option to enjoy the best of both worlds.

“My kids Sadie and Georgia are going to be five and two.

I grew up with two sisters, my older sister is two years older. But growing up with my older sister was like growing up with my best friend – we still are.

“I always knew if I ever had kids I’d want them to be a similar age like me and my sister.”

And Sam is enjoying a slice of home overseas after nailing down a boozer that sells his beloved tipple.

Sam laughed: “I’m a Tennent’s man, I keep it quite simple. And I’ve already sourced a bar in Canada that sells Tennent’s – but it’s not quite the same.

“But if I’m on a night out I won’t drink IPAs – that’s more of a ‘have a drink in the house‘ type beer.

“I’m pretty vanilla, I’ll have a Tennent’s or a Peroni – maybe a Heineken or a Corona, something like that.

“I’ll probably move on to a few vodka and sodas.”

The band have also recorded a mini-documentary on Glasgow nightlife which is available on YouTube.
