ONE of the most popular artists in the world, Shakira has an estimated net worth of a jaw-dropping £240million.

The pop star has amassed a huge fortune mainly through her music career but also through side hustles including lingerie toys and real estate.

The singer struck a deal with Spanish authorities today to pay a whopping £7million fine to avoid time in prison over tax fraud allegations.

The eye-watering payout is only a small part of Shakira’s estimated net worth which is approximately £240 million ($300million) according to Celebrity Net Worth.

The talented songstress is the highest-selling Colombian artist of all time, having sold approximately 75 million albums worldwide.

Born in Barranquilla, Columbia, as Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoliand, she signed her first record deal by the age of 13.

She became popular in Hispanic countries thanks to her next album Pies Descalzos released in 1995, and Dónde Están los Ladrones? in 1998. 

In 2002, the -now-blonde- Shakira went on a world tour with her first album in English called Laundry Service which sold over 20 million copies.

Shakira gradually became a superstar as her songs quickly topped the charts like Whenever, Wherever, La Tortura, Hips Don’t Lie, Loca, Can’t Remember to Forget You.

One of her hits was the 2010 World Cup South Africa song Waka Waka.

The 46-year-old has won 500 awards throughout her career- and three GRAMMY awards, including the Best Latin Pop Album for 2017’s El Dorado.

She was also named the 58th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine in 2014.

In addition to her music career, the Waka Waka singer participated as a judge on The Voice in the US alongside Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton in 2012 – where she reportedly earned nearly £10 million.

The Colombian sold the rights to her publishing catalogue to Hipgnosis Songs Fund in 2021.

The deal included publishing rights to roughly 145 songs and is believed to be worth at least £80million.

The star has also made some impressive deals throughout her career while her tours across the globe have brought in millions.

For example, her Oral Fixation World Tour grossed £140 million while her 10-year deal with Live Nation was worth £240 million.

Apart from her music, the talented star has launched businesses in other sectors that have contributed to her massive fortune.

The star has launched her own beauty line, S by Shakira with over 30 perfumes, body lotions and sprays.

While in 2015, the She Wold singer partnered with Fisher-Price to launch a toy collection.

The star has also launched her own lingerie collection with the brand Parade Underwear.

As for her real estate empire, Shakira bought several mansions in countries across the world such as in Bonds Kay (Bahamas), Barcelona, Uruguay as well as her £12million Miami mansion that went up for sale in 2017.
