Beautifully eerie video of empty Dubai captured by drone photographer

Unrecognisable footage

With the 24-hour national sterilisation programme in full effect in order to curb the further spread of COVID-19 throughout Dubai, some of busiest parts of the city has become unrecognisable.

Drone photographer Bachir Moukarzel decided to capture the eerie emptiness from above. Flying his drone high up in the sky, the once buzzing streets of the city and busy tourist attractions appear ghostly quiet.

Although the footage might remind you of an apocalyptic movie, the scenes aim to capture a positive message.

“Never in my life would we have ever thought to see the Sheikh Zayed Road with no cars, Dubai Mall with no people, roads empty, and attractions free of tourists,” writes Moukarzel in a caption.

“But it is also great to see everyone committed to staying home, for the sake of everyone we love. It is just a matter of time and Dubai will be back to normal, the whole world will be back to normal.”
