“4 Reasons Why Early-Morning Exercise Totally Makes Sense To Me Now”

Nothing screams “new year, new body” like a 5:45am sweat sesh. Every. Morning. Don’t feel bad for me though — I’m part of the 5am club, so watching the sun rise as I attempt to hold a 30-second plank is fun for me. Legit!

I tried out Adventure Boot Camp in Pinelands and these are the reasons why it fitted so seamlessly into my lifestyle…

Each morning at Pinelands High School, as we prepared for our warm-up, I’d scan left and right, before realising I wasn’t the only member of the 5am club who enjoys morning chats. This makes me happy. There’s banter and warm laughter from the women, who appear to be regulars.

But first — what exactly is this crack-of-dawn training all about? Adventure Boot Camp is a four-week female-only outdoor exercise programme led by a fitness instructor. Sign up for one, or attend all the camps – the choice is yours. Our fitness instructor, Lauren da Silver, is dynamite and passionate about the group. I can tell she loves us from the number of sprints we have to do on the hockey field…

I love trying out different workouts because I get bored easily. My workouts need to be different to keep me coming back for more. So I love the variety of Adventure Boot Camp, and that each sesh targets a different body part (so, think Monday full-body, Tuesday upper body and core, Wednesday cardio, Thursday full body and Friday upper body and core — weekends you rest… hard).

There are so many reasons why I signed up to be part of ABC, and somehow all of the reasons blended in well with my lifestyle. Here are a few…

“I Tried Adventure Boot Camp For A Month – Here’s How It Changed My Body”

1/ It’s a short distance from home

There are over 60 ABC locations across the country. No matter where you are, there’s probably a camp close to where you live. The Pinelands camp is five minutes away from my home (no kidding!), so no matter what time I woke up, making excuses wasn’t an option.

2/ The early bird catches the worm

The training sessions start at the crack of dawn, so I could exercise before going to work. This was great for me, and often helped me to stay energised throughout the day. Camps start at various times, depending on the locations, so check the schedule online.

3/ You get to work out with empowered women

One of the great things about working out in a space such like this is that there are no men. If I’m being completely honest, many of us (myself included) don’t particularly enjoy working out with men around. I enjoyed exercising in a relaxed environment with a diverse group of women. Adventure Boot Camp has created such a safe space, with a community of women who all have one thing in common with me: fitness.

4/ And you get your sweat on in the outdoors

As someone who loves the outdoors, I enjoyed breathing in fresh, clean air every morning. Working out was a treat for me, considering the fact that I spend most of my time in the office.
